There is actually a difference in the eyes of studios. there werent any prominent black roles in the movies.
There are plenty of females in the story already and even female villains like bellatrix and umbridge.

We’re talking about the (mis)casting by the studio of this show. Black Snape is a major one. Gender swapped Tom Riddle would be even more so?
Regardless, both would be severe alterations from a show claiming to be more faithful to the books than the movies.

The movies made a lot of changes to the story as well. The show can make several changes and be MORE faithful than the movies.

Cool. The movies cut characters completely.
Taking a law in the UK that says they cant discriminate based on sex/gender in auditions and using that to try to say they are gonna give the role to a female is beyond stupid. They did that for every role and no announced roles were gender swapped.
