Umm no. That is definitely the knock off version.
I used to think that but the last two seasons of TLK have surpassed the last two Vikings seasons IMO
Vikings fell off once Ragnar was killed

I agree its definitely not on the same level. It was going to be hard to keep it up when one of the best characters ever gets killed off.
For a fair comparison I'd definitely say Vikings through three seasons is better than TLK through 3. If the TLK doesbt drop in quality or possibly gets better, then I could see it being the better show overall.

If we're going to bring up another Vikings show, then why not Norsemen, which is friggin' awesome?

The show is indeed really bad and pretty much a farce.
I openly laughed aloud when, during a big battle scene, this Viking rolled up in a chariot swinging a little ax. Just accept the chariot...what does he plan to do with that little ax? Wave it at people as he rides by in his chariot? And why are all these Vikings dressed as bikers?
This Viking dude, all huffed up and strutting around like a comical rooster, saying he’s going to kill a guy and nothing can stop him. He’s enraged. He’s mad. He runs up to the guy and grabs him. Guy drops to his knees and yells “Do it!” Dramatic mad killing Viking then refuses, says “You’re not worth the blood on my ax.” Storms off, still mad.
The show is a comical farce but it is unintentional. It takes itself seriously and it’s fans are serious about the show.
It’s riddled with over the top ridiculousness. It’s non sensical, really just a dramatic soap opera with fake Vikings.

TLK is based on a book series that predates Vikings. Plus, they’re different subject matter. TLK is the story of the birth of England told through the perspective of a warlord who is ethnically Saxon but raised as a Dane and is sympathetic to the Danes.

This is a valid criticism. The casting doesn’t fit the character. Uhtred is supposed to be a large, tall man who’s always looking for a fight. The actor tries, but he just doesn’t exude the aggression and physicality the role demands.

Come on. No show with Katherine Winnick can really be bad.

Vikings was great in the early seasons.
I thought it took a turn for the worse after Athelstan was killed. I thought the last really good part was when they had the showdown between Ragnar and King Horik, when Ragnar outplayed him in the assassination game.
The Paris attack- I never could find the French princess attractive, and since the show had been filled with hotties, that turned me.
Hadn't really watched since they killed Ragnar off.
Travis Fimmel needs to find his way into GoT for the final season.

Watched the first season and two episodes of season 2. The first 4 or 5 episodes were actually good. After that it went downhill fast, very fast.
you nailed it calling it days of our lives. I told my fiancee it was a fricking soap opera before ever seeing this thread, so I feel validated for turning this turd of a show off and not watching another episode. It sucked dix.

Wow, I haven't posted on here in a while, I randomly click on the page and the top post is one I was in from 2018.
I stopped Vikings after Ragnar died. I tried to stick it out, but could only last a few episodes after. Trying to make the cripple a giant badass was just too much. Terrible, terrible character. Hard to watch a show when the main guy is that bad. But I still think the 1st 3 seasons was really good TV.

Probably in my top 5 series of all time. Eff the haters

I love it. The worst part to me was the Ragnar addiction story. That was hard to watch.
It definitely dropped after he left but was still a good show.

This board loves it. People always recommend it in "What should I binge next?" threads. I gave it a season, and a couple more episodes, before quitting it. Glad to see a couple of other people don't think it's great.
Did you search and find this thread, or did you read it in 2018, remember it, and come back and post.

I haven’t watched since season 1, but my wife continued to watch.
I know some shows subvert expectations, but - frankly I got the same vibe from the first episode of Vikings as I did from Sons of Anarchy - I didn't like the main character and knew that was going to be a problem. It felt a little too forced from a drama standpoint right away.

After talking for about an hour she agreed the show is Days of Our Lives With Vikings. She then concluded it was a complete and utter waste of time.
Good job. What a win.
Weird bump too.
