I need to catch up on all of these but the first part of the Benoit one was awesome.

David Schultz, for those unaware, is a wrestler who was a big WWF star in 1984 who was fired for slapping the shite out of John Stossel and, supposedly, threatening Mr T in the lead up to WrestleMania 1.

It's all so shocking that over the years several different theories have been devised -- he was in deep depression over Eddie's death, had brain damage, had roid rage, etc. Regardless of the reason(s), it doesn't matter. If he wanted to kill himself, fine. There was zero reason to kill Nancy and Daniel. The damage he caused to all involved is reprehensible.

Most who are that big of a douchebag are chased out of the business before they get that successful.

Especially for a guy known as being “0 for life” on fights as Jim Cornette put it between Bret Hart whipping his arse, one of the Harris twins whipping his arse, a marine whipping his arse, etc. All of which were in about a year and a half period.

The theory I heard, which was floated by Nancy’s ex Kevin Sullivan, is that certain meds Benoit was on when combined with alcohol can cause a blackout.

The theory laid out that he probably killed Nancy in a blackout then all subsequent actions were done as he was panicking in the aftermath.

I watched it last night and it was rough, especially the Eddie stuff. I feel like they could've done a whole episode just on Eddie but I get how important his death was to Benoits story. Viki had me crying.

Also for the non wrestling fans who watched it, this was the perfect time (and why the story is just now being told by those closest to it) because Jericho, Malenko, Chavo, Viki, and Jim Ross have pretty much been employed by WWE until the past year or 2, and theres ZERO chance WWE would've allowed them to do the interviews while employed. I'm kinda shocked they were able to use WWE footage to be honest.

I think they have had a working agreement to get footage for various matches throughout the series. This just happened to be a case where this is footage that the WWE pretends never happened.

I’m watching the Moolah one and there is a ton of WWF clips such as the infamous Spider Lady match with Wendy Richter which was effectively the dress rehearsal for Montreal.

yeah, I call BS on the Moolah episode, where Wendi said she didn't know Spider Lady was Moolah. Heck, I could tell immediately who it was and I was only 9 or 10 years old. Not to mention they had to call their spots and the voice would have been familiar, plus once you work with someone you know their actions and movements in the ring.

It wasn't a lot. Probably fell under fair use since it was for a documentary.

I followed this story pretty close when it happened so there's wasn't much new for me but it was neat to see the crime scene photos. I had never heard about Chris beating Nancy, or that William Regal lived in the same town and knew about it. Didn't know WWE had shunned David Benoit but I've seen pics of him backstage at WWE events so it can't be that bad.

The biggest problem with the Moolah episode, besides Richter having kayfabe issues, was something outside their control.

A number of the allegations against Moolah were made public years ago, while she was alive, but the accusers have since died such as Luna Vachon.

Thus, I found a lot of the bitching about it being a post-mortem character assassination to be bullshite because there are taped interviews making these claims from 20 years ago.

Just watched it and oh man... though what he did I despise him... Growing up Benoit was always fun to watch and the 2nd episode was so hard to watch emotions all over the place.. but Vice did a good job with this

I immediately thought of Terry also, but I think he meant Dory.

Some things didn’t feel right about this Benoit episode. I had never heard any stories about Kevin Sullivan beating Nancy.

It seems like they tried saying this is why she left Kevin for Benoit, but if anything, I got the sense that she was already sleeping with Benoit, which is why he hit her, if he even really hit her.

They really tried painting Benoit as this angel who could never do anything like this in his right mind. Everything I’ve read and heard about the guy says he was just as intense outside the ring as he was in the ring.

They made it seem like he only became abusive when he started losing his shite towards the end, which I don’t think is true. Didn’t even mention how he was injecting his youngest son with HGH or something.

They shouldn’t have let his friends be in control of this doc to try painting a softer picture of him. I have no issue with friends of his having good memories and speaking on that.

But, since Jericho and Chavo it seemed where in control of this doc, the whole thing was basically, “oh he was this great guy who no one thought could be violent”.

I think Benoit was already someone who was a little crazy and something was off with him. Then the steroids, brain damage, and depression all added to the kind of intense person he already was, which ended with him doing what he did.

Just watched this week's episode on New Jack. That dude is fricking nuts.

That said I would've paid money to watch Paul E on a stand working a jury and judge.

The Benoit episode was good. I didn’t realize how it all went down with his friendship with Guerrero and such. Sad situation for all of them. I never cared for Chris Jericho but he seemed like a real decent guy on there.

The New Jack episode came off to me as glorifying a psychopath. I have no idea how that dude isn’t in prison, yet the only person on the show who really seemed to go after New Jack for his actions even a little was Jim Cornette.

Heyman blatantly perjured himself to get New Jack off for trying to murder a 17 year old. Sandman, who himself is insane, laughed and justified everything New Jack did.

Maybe no one wanted to get tied up in any New Jack shite, so this was the only people they could find to do the show.

Was cool to see it put in that fashion. I knew of Hawk's demons, and that sucks that James Laurinaitis' dad had to take the brunt of that. How awesome was James' childhood going tell his friends that his dad was Animal?

You could always get pumped in the 90s when that OOOO WHAT A RUSH!! would hit

There was another Dark Side of the Ring thread but it might have died. Recently posted this in there

I just finished the 6 episodes of season 1 and it's pretty good. The Macho Man episode was my favorite. Didn't particularly care for the Gorgeous Gino one (to me from jump it was pretty damn obvious the dude OD'ed) and the Fabulous Moolah one.

Going to have to bite the bullet and watch the Benoit 2 parter. That's gonna be tough
