Love this movie every time I watch it. Is it a little cheesy and are the effects a little dated? Yes. But it’s so much fun. Doesn’t drag for too long. Has good actors in big rolls and I love how they get into the sprawling mythos of monsters and monster hunters. Always loved the Vatican as a sort of citadel that serves as their home base. And of course whoever the friar guy is that serves as Van Helsings Q.

This is the definition of a rewatchable and I never don’t enjoy it.

I agree. Always good for a watch. I put in this in that category with others that have a similar rewatchability/enjoyability factor for me (which critics and others mostly don't seem to agree with).

But they work for me:

Van Helsing
Gods of Egypt
the Great Wall
John Carter
Battleship
The Rundown

there's more I'm sure. Just off the top of my head.

always hated how they killed her off at the end.

it did nothing for the story at all and was like they didnt know what to do, so they said "lets kill her off"

not saying they can be together, its obvious they cant, but her continuing her family line would have been a better ending

I think the point was her family line ended when they fulfilled their purpose. To dispose of Dracula. Now they can all enter heaven.

well ya, but that is the whole point, her family's souls were allowed to move on, and her work was done, so her death served no purpose or reason.

her family saved, she could start her family tree all over again, killing her still snuffs out their entire family forever, even if their souls do go to heaven.

He's the one eyed guy in 300 that was sent to tell the story

It's an aside, but...

The same actress Elena Anaya

Was Dr. Poison in Wonder Woman

She's a good actress...she can definitely disappear into a role. A Spanish actress playing a sexy Transylvanian killer vampire and a psychopathic French terrorist doctor. Hid the boobs well in Wonder Woman.

Now I have to rewatch it.

I have never seen the movie but I did see an interview where Matt Damon pretty much said he didn't care much for it and he was in it.

I think her death was to mold Van Helsing for future movies. Something like "this is why he doesn't fall in love" type stuff. Unfortunately, as a poster pointed out, we got no sequels.

I remember seeing it at the movie theater and really enjoying it. I thought for sure it would get a sequel but its box office numbers for the U.S. were not great.

I’m glad you like it, and you must not be wrong because you have plenty of upvotes… but man, I thought that movie was straight garbage.

Everything is CGI and it’s not done well, hammy dialogue, overacting… I guess it aged well? No idea. Hated it.

If you enjoy Van Helsing, I suggest watching Solomon Kane:

I'll add these to those I mentioned before:

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
The Quick and the Dead
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Cowboys and Aliens (weakest one on the list IMO)
