Julie was very cute in a virginal, befuddled by sex kinda way. This is probably the best, most alluring non-toothy smiley picture of her.

But Samantha was the girl that was meant for Randy. She was a little freak with frick me eyes and a slutty girlish hairstyle that holds up way better than Julie's 80's girl mullet.

Samantha was a total frickmonkey, but not the only incredibly frickable girl in that movie.

Stacey had my favorite body of all the preppy girls. Most will say it's Dottie from Pee Wee and Streets of Fire, but Stacey is the choice. Suzi/Jordan from Real Genius has great tits and has had even greater staying power, but her legs are just too scrawny imo. We did see the most of her, though, so that's appreciated.

Although I'm still disappointed that Bif or whatever his name was wasn't really banging Suzi's mom, as we were led to suspect. I wonder if that was the original intent and someone made them change it. I really wanted to see Beth naked, though.

And she held up pretty well, too, as did a lot of these actresses.

She held up well because it appears she allowed herself to age.

The plastic look is horrible.

Edit: Love the soundtrack. Melt With You and A Million Miles Away are fantastic songs. And they are perfectly placed in the movie.

I approve of this thread. You can have Samantha. Julie is all mine. Had a huge crush on her.

And yes, I can hammer a six-inch spike through a board with my penis.

Real Genius quote for those who don't know that one.

Fun facts:

This girl from the movie (Elizabeth Daly) provided the voice for Tommy of Rugrats fame:

This guy from the movie (Michael Bowen) also played Todd's Uncle Jack on Breaking Bad:

Man, I'll always be a Julie fan. She was one of my crushes back when the movie came out.

Samantha was hot in a slutty way, but my highschool brain couldn't understand that slutty = easy = I actually have a chance. I was always drawn to the girl next door types.

But Beth, she'd definitely get it.

And the song played when the dude is riding his bike over to hopefully surprise Beth and bone her is fricking gold. Eaten By The Monster of Love by the Sparks.

This is probably my favorite 80's teen movie. I'd argue that as great as the John Hughes movies are, the sound track alone takes the win for this one.

Along with the Sparks (Eaten By The Monster of Love and Angst in My Pants), you have Modern English with the titular title song Melt With You, not one not two, but THREE songs by The Plimsouls (Million Miles Away, Oldest Story In The World, and Everywhere At Once), Johnny Are You Queer by Josie Cotton, Eyes of the Stranger by The Payolas, Who Can It Be Now by Men at Work, Love My Way by Psychedelic Furs, She Talks In Stereo by Gary Myrick & The Figures, and some other obscure but awesome songs.

Seriously, if you were a teen in the 80's and wanted more than the shite they were playing on local Baton Rouge radio, this movie had some fantastic songs. KLSU and WBRH were your best chance of hearing most of these).

They never put out the soundtrack album due to clearance issues. I looked for it in every record shop... My girlfriend (now wife) was obsessed with the movie. In the 90's someone put out a compilation album with most of the songs.

"I Melt with You" was a minor hit on alternative radio until it started being used in commercials in the 90's and 00's. Now everyone knows it.

Yes, Melt With You became a big hit after that movie, but what I discovered from Valley Girl was The Plimsouls. As stated above, A Million Miles Away is a great song. Another Plimsouls song featured in the movie and that I still listen to today was The Oldest Story in the World.

ME TOO.

This article
lists every song, with a few links to youtube as well.

And yes, Melt With You during their dates montage and at the end are PERFECT song/scene match-ups.

I saw the lead singer from the Plimsouls a few years back here in Houston at a small venue. He told some good stories and played the songs we all wanted to hear, as well as some of his other stuff. It was a great show.

Another interesting Valley Girl. The on in the middle of this picture withe the curlers is Michelle Meyrinck.

Here she is in Revenge of the Nerds (she was also in Real Genius).

After the 80's she gave up acting for Zen Buddhism.

Wow. I suddenly remembered Julie from Real Genius, but that is crazy. I guess Tommy had a party life, because he did not age well. Of course, they dressed him up as a crusty biker, so who knows what he looks like every day.

Elizabeth Daly has done a lot of voice work, and I think she did a bit part in the House of 1000 Corpses sequel, Devil's Rejects - alongside another 80's icon, Terry from Threes Company. (yeah, I don't like looking up names._

I think the Plimsouls were supposed to be elevated to star status after this, but it never happened. I still listen to them occasionally. And no, that's not Jan Hooks in the Million Miles Away video.
