The restaurant where they go in 1980 is Ella's at the Inn at Carnall Hall on the University of Arkansas campus.

Did anyone notice that the wife said "children should laugh" but it was after they got the magazine clip letter.

Not sure if a related statement or if she is saying it bc of the letter.

Yes. It almost leads me to believe she sold the daughter or something. She was almost confessing to something.

Side note. Mahershala Ali is amazing. It's almost hard to believe it is the same actor playing all three roles at times. Incredible performance.

Maybe giving the daughter to her real father?

The portrayal of a man in the midst of Alzheimer’s is fantastic. Incredibly realistic right down to the auditory and visual hallucinations.

Everything seems to keep coming bag to Hoyt Foods. The mother worked for them, the one eyed black guy worked for them, they were the ones to set up the charity for the kids, the 2015 timeline is heavily implying a high level conspiracy, etc.

Welp my post from last week is looking pretty true at least from the standpoint that the mother was involved.

I agree. She’s involved somehow. There are some holes in that theory but the way she reacted after picking up that plate was telling. The priest, the rich family from the food company who lost a granddaughter. It’s all tied in.

the direction has fallen off a cliff after Jeremy Saulnier's episodes.

Is that a man in a suit dead on the ground? And that black car was shown in the preview by itself.

Thats Roland I’m guessing. Guess that’s how he got the limp.

Pizzalato directed ep 4 and it showed. His first time. The visual style of ep 1 and 2 were certainly missing. Also, to me the scene at the restaurant with Wayne and his wife was just way too long and honestly I do not find their relationship interesting at all. Would anything be different at all if she was just some interested person who wrote a book about the case and not the wife of the lead detective? I don't think so.

I am enjoying the performances by Ali, dorff, mcnairy and gummer. I don't see how they stretch this out for 4+ hours since you can basically surmise now what happened.

- the wife made some kind of deal to sell her daughter (or both kids) to someone who would give her (them) a better life. She was manipulated and talked into it by others (possibly her cousin and neighbor lady, priest at the church, who cares)

-the kids had been meeting this new aunt (the hoyt daughter who previously lost her child) in the woods as a form of grooming for a while.

- when the time came, they only wanted Julie.. Will catches them in the woods and attempts to save her and doesn't go along with it. He is killed either by accident or some other way. His mother and someone else puts his body in the cave in that pose. The kidnappers take Julie and Dan and Lucy eventually get paid.

- the girls bike is found on the trash man's property after the showdown with the rednecks. The whole thing is pinned on Woodard but hays and west never believed it and hays is more vocal about it to the authorities and gets demoted to a life at a desk job.

-eventually when the new evidence arises to reopen the case in 90 its a game of beat the clock to find Julie. Amelia finds her first and hays learns about this. They decide to keep her hidden and go on a killing spree for anyone who may have been involved. Tom Purcell likely kills the cousin Dan (maybe with the help from Roland).

- they kill a few people who may have been involved but don't get everyone.

-the case is closed again in 90 without overturning the conviction.

- perhaps in 2015 hays finds a clue to a higher up they missed before and finishes the job, or he just remembers everything that happened and convinces the TV lady to let it go.

Yeh that is true. I think alot of people are trying to "force" this season much like season 2

I am not saying this season is as bad as season 2. That isnt my point. But, go back to the season 2 threads and you will see it wasnt until it was over that people finally admitted it sucked balls People kept almost forcing themselves to defend it

This season isnt awful, it has good acting and it isnt all over the place like season 2. But its also extremely slow and I am not finding myself excited or on edge during the show at all like season 1 had me.

I wonder what went down to make the people abandon the town. Obviously you have this shootout that's going to happen but it makes me wonder about a bigger conspiracy or something. I don't think they've shown West Finger in 1990 all that much except dad Purcell was living somewhere not in town. What would make that town deserted in the present timeline?

I'm thinking the paranoia about not knowing who is kidnapping and murdering children, the stuff about the dolls at Halloween making people know it's likely a neighbor, and then several men being blown to pieces in a front yard would be enough to make people consider moving to Farmington or Prairie Grove.

West Finger ain't been the same since.

To each their own, but I don't get this at all. I don't give a shite about shootout scenes. I care more about the story line and dialog. I am enjoying this just as much as I did season 1. I think it's been excellent.

I didn’t even finish season 2, so I realized it sucked well before it ended.

To each their own of course, but I get the same “can’t wait to watch” out of this season as I did season 1. Season 1 was (started off) “slow” also imo

Thats fine. But this board acting now it was collectively agreed upon season 2 sucked is a bit of a false premise

That season was heavily defended throughout. If you didnt like it, you were met with "The show is fantastic. Stop comparing it to season 1. Your are being ridiculous"

To each their own I guess. This season hasnt captured me yet. We will see if it does
