Marty is alpha to the outward world. But when it comes to police work (and thinking) between Rust and Mart, Rust is the alpha for sure.

in this instance, but it seems he was pretty accomplished prior to this case (and a guy that group of cops looked up to)

Ledoux was tripping and I wouldn't take what he says with too much importance. That is why I think they cut his priest remark. Just a drugged out dude talking shite if asked me.

This show is too well written for that. Not reading too much into every little piece of potential symbolism like a still of Marty with his hands up that looks like antlers or the fact that he killed a ten point, but the dialogue from the Ledoux's can't be dismissed as the idle ramblings of an addict.

He doesn't say that episode 6 is why he has a problem with a show. He says that the problems he had in eps 1-3, and remained after 4, once again become apparent in 6.
His problem with the show is, essentially, Rust, and the fact that show is driven by a moody machismo and philosophy he can't get on board with.
