The girl that mentions the dude with the scars making her watch in the previews for next week...was that the younger girl from the "Killbilly Bunny Ranch"?

Probably. The cults that engage kids pretty much always recruit them through the parents or other family members.
Fontenot from 1st episode is missing, but the sheriff says, the report was "made in error" since "she was with her dad". Dad likely in the cult.
Tonight, Cohle sees a shite ton of "made in error" on his screen. So I'm thinking this cult has been sacrificing, abusing, whatever kids nobody really cares about for years. And every time a parent is involved so that way the report comes back as made in error.

We haven't seen the governor yet, maybe he has scars?

Yep it was obvious the made in error messages were a direct link back to Marie fontenot

That's all very interesting, but I sort of hope it's not that cerebral (not sure if that would be the correct term?)

There's also the large billboard with the missing girl on it that Cohle looks at in the 1st episode and he looks at it for a good while tonight. He will tie all these missing kids to this cult but keeps getting cockblocked because the parents are probably in the cult. That and some politicians/higher ups make it real tough too I'm sure.
ETA: meant to finish with that's why Cohle is off the grid, long haired, burned out, and drinking heavily again. They have "won" so far.

I'm still trying to digest this episode....so much happened.
Need to go reread all 17 pages before I make my next post.

Anybody remember where that light of way school is at?
They said the girl they found in reggies shed Was From St landrys...wonder if any other characters we have seen thus far are linked to that area

Wow...no show has grabbed me like this since Twin Peaks blew my mind in college. I could at least binge 3-4 episodes a night on that box set. This week to week crap is killing me.
Guess we know now that Rust is the "True Detective". Left "legitimate" police work to work the case off the grid. Marty is off the force as well, doing P.I. "stuff."
Any chance they are still working the case together and all this "fallout" stuff is just a smokescreen? Three more hours to find out answers, or maybe just more questions. Who knows?

If Marty's daughter got caught up in the cult or killed, this is a definite possibility. Marty knows that Cohle is the only one that will solve this case.
