Shakespeare movies don't interest me but this is a unique take on it.

Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand are taking on Shakespeare.
The Oscar winners are in talks to star in Joel Coen’s adaptation of “Macbeth.” Coen will direct from his own original script, and expects to shoot the movie before the end of the year. This marks his first film without frequent directing/writing/producing partner and brother Ethan.
A24 will distribute the pic, which Scott Rudin will produce.
The iconic Shakespeare tale follows a lord (Washington) who’s convinced by a trio of witches that he’s destined to become the king of Scotland. With the help of his ambitious wife (McDormand), Macbeth tries to seize the crown by any means necessary.

It seems kind of weird but Macbeth is something that Denzel would knock out of the park.

I like McDormand, but Denzel's wife? I dont know about that. I'll probably watch it though.

Add another one to the list of directors less racist than Jordan Peele

Didn't Laurence Fishburne already play the lead in a previous version of Macbeth?
Eta:nvm, that was Othello.
Anyways, I like Coen films, so none of the racial stuff matters.

I want Denzel to deliver this line so bad now.
quote:
I'm a black Scottish cyclops. They got more fecking sea monsters in the great Lochett Ness than they got the likes of me. So! T'all you fine dandies, so proud, so cocksure, prancin' about with your heads full of eyeballs... come and get me, I say! I'll be waitin' on you with a whiff of the old brimstone! I'm a Grimm bloody fable with an unhappy bloody end! Oh, they're going to have to glue you back together...IN HELL!

He already played Don Pedro Prince of Aragon in Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing in 1993.
Keanu Reeves plays his brother Don John.
He has also played Richard III in The Tragedy of Richard III and Brutus in Julius Caesar in theater productions.

Denzel can do a lot better.

Just latching on to that narrative aren't you? Even when people provided the full quote and context.

What narrative? Even crypto-racist Quentin Tarantino hires diverse leads. Really makes you think

That's a pretty click-baity subject title, OP

I'm still trying to adjust to "urban types" in my films.

I actually like the most recent Macbeth adaptation with Fassbender. I think Denzel would be good in that role though, would love to see Don Cheadle as Hamlet.

If only Idi Amin were alive to see this day come
