this storyline has the 2nd most potential, to me, behind the restaurant owner.
I really like that actress (loved her in Deadwood). She is not overly pretty but something about her is really engaging (She ain't bad to look at either). Her storyline is VERY VERY realistic. Restaurants that were open quickly aftr the storm were doing a TON of business, but were having $$ issues bc they had to go way into debt to get re-opened bc insurance and FEMA $$ were slow arriving. I really can understand her frustration.

Reading this thread makes me think that New Orleanians are more sensitive about being stereotyped than any group I've ever seen.
The hot sauce on the eggs is a case in point. Lots of locals do, in fact, put hot sauce on their eggs. If you are trying to show a little slice of life from New Orleans, tobasco on eggs is not so far fetched. Maybe we chaffe at such images because it becomes THE thing that others take note of, but we don't want to be defined by something so trivial.
Another thought I had is that subconsciously, we may not like anyone holding up a mirror to us. Most movies and t.v. shows have made American life seem so homogenous, that we are shocked to see ourselves showcased, with the artist trying to highlight the differences, they seem to be so stark.

well, to be fair
if one character wouldn't put hot sauce on his/her eggs, it should be the chef. hopefully she can make eggs well enough without hot sauce. now in terms of the show, i'd say zhan's character would be 1st on the list, b/c his character is your typical nola-loving douche. i hate him, and i could see his character completely go off on somebody for putting hot sauce on eggs.

No shite, what the hell is in Houston to make a show? Bunch of messicans chillin at Home Depot looking at their struggles?

Well to be fair, she burned the eggs bc she was on the phone dealing with work stuff. She was obviously upset with herself, and it was my interpretation that the hot sauce was just used to cover the burnt taste.

The boardrooms of all the major oil companies filled with cocaine, hookers, and some of the most ridiculous wet bars you've ever seen.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the two new street artists they introduced. The girl is alright, but the guy is a douche and has a terrible voice.
Y'all remember the post Katrina story about the guy and girl that lived in the Quarter, stayed thru the whole storm, and lived in the Quarter when it was supposed to be evacuated. The guy ended up going crazy, killing and eating his girlfriend. The story was covered in Maxim, and most major news outlets. I could see the story line of those two characters going in that direction.

Not only do I frequently put hot sauce on my eggs, I use Tabasco! The Horror!!!!
This last show was not good. The tabasco thing got me thinking of K-ville where they put hot sauce on EVERYTHING. It was stupid and gimmicky. Same thing with the community coffee. It's one giant advertisement, instead of a series.
Not to mention, the 2 characters that are enjoyable to watch, John Goodman and Steve Zahn, are hardly in it. There is no dialogue, just a bunch of shitty music that makes up 30 minutes of the 1 hour show.
I was interested the first show, but the 2nd episode was not good.

I read that article. He then jumped out of a window and killed himself. They found his girlfriends body parts in the fridge, and some in a pot on the stove.

I am also hating the, all the new orleans cops are white and racist thing. I've seen quite a few black cops when i was in new orleans.

She put Tobabsco on it bc she ruined the eggs and that made them edible. Just saying... Stop reading too much into it.

When they zoomed in on the hot sauce bottle, i did not get that feeling.

plus it was on her dresser by her bed

As I said above, my wife is a native New Orleanian and likes hot sauce on her eggs. I can't believe I married a cliche'. Perhaps Bug and SFP can testify at the divorce trial.
And, yeah, I can't believe we have to listen to such shitty musicians like Allen Toussaint, Galactic and Trombone Shorty. If only they'd just use Kings of Leon or Carrie Underwood they'd have a good sound track. lulz

Look not trying to make excuses but she was in the process of repairing her house, so normal living conditions were altered. I lived in my house during repairs after Katrina, so I understand eating my dinner in my room.

There have been exactly two scenes involving white cops being assholes. Hardly featured that prominently. In fact there have been more black law enforcement officers on screen than white. Wanna bet?

One of the running storylines is the "cover up" of the black inmate being "lost".

What are you 5? Are you a co-creator of the show? Are those story lines taken from you life? If not i'd stop getting so defensive about a show, and people's feelings towards it. Those were the things i notice, and the things i disliked about it.
