It was actually kinda disappointing at how badly a Soverign class ship (Enterprise in Nemesis) got mauled.

I know, the Scimitar is in a heavier weight class, but still...

BTW, I think the Klingons use torpedoes as well.

Klingons have had torpedoes since Enterprise (before the Federation)

Is it just me or is torpedoes kinda of a new thing.

While older ships had them, they weren't often used except for "shite just got real" monuments.

Galaxy class and later used them like they got them from a bargain bin.

Yeah, it's safe to assume torpedoes and some type of energy beam weapon is standard on any starship/warship in the 4 quadrants. Any major power, that is...

DS9 - The Reliant had a cloak although it seemed broken just about every episode and was probably on loan from the Romulans due to the war with The Founders.

Plus, evidently in the near future Star Fleet changed their mind.

One of the most bad arse scenes from the tv shows was Riker in his cloaked Future Enterprise coming out of cloak and fracking those Klingons to hell.

Defiant

And that future depicted in All Good Things didn't necessarily happen, due to Picard & Co saving the universe. It is one of many billions of possible futures.

And I choose to believe that is the future of our friends from STNG.

I knew the Reliant sounded a bit off but I was too lazy to look it up.

True but it's hip and cool to know the life story of some 19 year old kid on a football team.

In the original series, the Romulans used the plasma torpedo, which was a lot more powerful than photon torpedoes.

Unfortunately, this great would-be defining characteristic of their ships fell to the wayside, as it was only used in one episode.
