Watched it last night. Buddy bought one entire theater room out for a bunch of us, so that was pretty awesome.
I was blown away with how good that was. That is the most i've laughed at a movie in a long time.
I was pretty skeptical when they announced they were doing this, especially since pt3 ending was so perfect, but this was fantastic.
No franchise has ever pulled off a homerun with all their movies like Pixar has done with Toy Story.

Other gender fluidly messages in movies or television beat you over the head with the message, but this one was very innocuous. Thats a GOOD thing. The movie was fun for the Cissies while at the same time teaches children about gender fluidity but not preach about it. That is the perfect balance, a movie where everyone can rally behind and get something from it.
O good lord. How anybody could walk away from the movie and this be something they thought about blows my mind. I would imagine that you are an absolutely miserable person to be around if this is what you want to talk about after seeing that movie.

What does it matter ? We both seen and enjoy the movie. For me I saw Forky as sexless and more like gender fluid but it was showcase in a benign way.
I mean did you walk out before the end of the movie or something? How in the world could you see them as sexless. This is ridiculous

What milestone is this? The you have lost your mind and make absolutely no sense milestone.

Wife and I saw it today, I liked it but the storytelling was so repetitive. First Woody jumps out the window to go get Forky. Then he gets trapped in the antique store and once again they have to go get Forky. Then they finally get him and Woody wants to go back and get Gabby. Then everyone has to go back and get Woody. Almost the entire movie is going back to get someone. Got pretty tedious.

Saw it last night. I’ll get this out of the way: it’s a good movie. It’s also the funniest of the Toy Story movies, and Key and Peele and Duke Kaboom are scene stealers. I also liked Forky. On its own accord it’s great, and approaching it as simply an epilogue makes it fine.
But I don’t think it justified its own existence. I’ll be able to make peace with it since it’s a good epilogue, but this kind of seems like a good made for TV movie. I got a bit emotional, but I don’t think it has anything that tops the first three in terms of emotional impact. It’s good to see these characters again, but that’s also a major issue with all the other characters being sidelined. It was such a good dynamic with the first three, and the other characters are just brought up when needed. Also they made Buzz dumber for some reason, which while funny, doesn’t really add up with the arc that the character has previously gone through.
I still give it a 3 out of 4, and while the funniest, it’s also the worst of the Toy Story movies. It’s not the perfection of the previous three. But I feared for worse on here dissecting a society of antique stores and fairs like the previous Toy Stories had with their respected environments. If you have kids, certainly go see it. They’ll love it.

That as well. The narrative isn’t as tight as the others and makes me suspend disbelief much more than the previous ones when it cam to talking toys.

I think the most important thing about this movie is how they made Gender fluidity a thing with sexless toys like Spork and Knife. In today's age it was much needed but not be in your face about it.
You’re a fricking lunatic if you think that was the message they were conveying.

You need to check yourself into fricking institution. If anything, Pixar is one of the more conservative studios. Watch the Incredibles or WALL-E if you don’t believe me.

You're so stunning and brave.

I saw it you didn't but I can guarantee you a lot of people saw it too. The typical male in Woody has been subverted for a more gender fluid friendly forky. HOwever it was in a very subtle and non invasive way.

It doesn’t have the emotional punches in the third act that Toy Story 3 had, but I felt there were smaller emotional punches throughout the movie this go around. It was definitely had the most humor of any of the movies. Basically if you are one of those “It WaSn’T nEcAsSaRy” fools then you probably will be lukewarm towards it. If you love the franchise and characters then you’ll love the movie.
This is how I feel. I was 15 when the first one came out. I don’t think I saw any of the first three in their entirety until I had my first child 6 years ago, and this was my first one in theaters. It is by far my favorite story universe of any kind that I have experienced with my kids. I just have no nostalgic feelings towards the older ones so I’m looking at it from a different viewpoint.
The third one was the most powerful but I still think this was one was very worthy of the series and fantastic in its own right. It was easily the funniest and right up there with 1 and 3 for me.
While the third one completed the main arch of the gang as a whole with Andy, I thought this one did a great job of completing Woody. Was kind of neat to see him go from scheming to get rid of his main competitor in buzz to selflessly giving his voice box to gabby gabby.

What are you rambling about now?

It’s not new where a “villain” is misunderstood and simply in need. Gabby Gabby was basically the General Talos from Captain Marvel.

I would have been %100 percent ok if there was only 3 of them. That's what I'd prefer.
But I think it was 100x better than a made for TV movie and would be the best animated movie released almost every year if you didnt have the 1st three to compare it to and especially bc of the ending of 3. I dont think it's fair at all to call it made for TV, if you look at it just based off of "how good was this movie" then it's well deserved. A good movie is a good movie, regardless if it needed to be made. It's almost unique in that sense.
I've always said that one reason TS was so good bc for three movies so many characters got due justice and you grew to love SO many minor characters, more than any other franchise. But Bonnie isn't Andy and the story was based on what Bonnie needs, and it wasn't everybody. The side characters became true side characters bc that's what they are in Bonnie's life. Adding Forky, Ducky, Bunny, Duke, the cop toy and bringing back Bo Peep made it impossible for them all to get much screen time.
My main gripe though would be that they didnt do Buzz much justice at all.

I mean the movie was showing how completely selfless Woody has become. He's doing everything possible to make Bonnie happy even if though its sacrificing his time with her. That was just another aspect of who has developed in to.
His arc has truly come full circle. Going from it's all about me and wanting nothing but himself to be Andy's favorite toy to doing anything possible so Bonnie can have a different favorite toy.
Pretty awesome.

1000x this. It was a beautiful conclusion for him.

This was my biggest gripe as well. I enjoyed the movie and understood Woody's arc but I felt like they just completely pushed Buzz to the side. Which is a shame because that's apparently the last we'll ever get to see of him. It'd be more understandable if they had plans for future movies.

It was already full circle though. Lotso was completely who Woody would have become if he was replaced by another Woody doll or let his envy for Buzz totally consume him. He is the initial draft for Woody that the Disney hacks wanted before they let Pixar do their own thing. He would have become abusive of his subordinate toys in the exact same way Lotso had. Overcoming Lotso and being able to come to terms with his mortality and parting with Andy is his arc concluded. This is just gravy, and while nice gravy, it wasn’t needed. Lotso and Woody’s fates were the end of the character arc.
