Yeah, I was surprised that every showing is still available. Saturday is the earliest I can make it, unfortunately

If you are near Kenner, every screen at the Grand Cinema is playing it this weekend and they have electric reclining chairs with eight inch arm rests. The front two rows go almost flat.

Best seats every.

Next question, I neeed four together and have tickets in hand, how early should I get there? I'm thinking an hour before showtime should be fine.

Anybody been looking at photos from the premiere. I'll post a few:

Peter Mayhew with a lightsaber cane.

Anthony Daniels being a massive tool as usual. Seriously, the guy has 4 credits total outside of 3PO and there's never been a more "holier than thou" dickwad in cinematic history. He's pretty much insulted every actor save Alec Guiness who has ever been on Star Wars, including calling Leia fat during the bikini scene in Return of the Jedi, Harrison Ford to be washed up, and Mark Hamill to be a fat loser who didn't adapt well after Star Wars (despite having 40 times the amount of roles he's ever gotten). And the shite he's said to Kenny Baker is abhorrent.

Sorry, been meaning to go on a rant about this tool for a while, but this was the first opportunity.

Dwight and his kid being seemingly the only people at the premiere to dress up for the showing itself. :lmao:

Lucas looking absolutely thrilled to be there.

Harrison Ford actually looking thrilled for a change.

Board icon JGL dressed as Yoda.

Didn't know that about the seats. But heres an added treat for you and everyone locally that wants the best in sound: Kenner is the ONLY theater with Dolby Atmos sound on the south shore, which EpVII will support. I think Movie Tavern in Covington has it too; not sure.

Speaking of….Not sure if this has been covered (tried to do a search) now that SW is Disney's it seems they've gotten away from the "Episode" numbering to just focus on the title. Has that been discussed here and if so, what are some possible reasons? Different business plan? Just marketing? Or maybe distancing from trilogies to stand alone movies in the future with the property?

Few more solid pics from the night:

Jeez, Billy Dee looks ancient these days.

And Mark Hamill is looking much thinner than he has in recent years. Must be gettin ready for his role in Episode VIII.

Last pic of her before she becomes globally famous.

George and JJ hugging it out on the red carpet which is pretty cool.

The composer of my childhood, John Williams. Will be a very sad day when he goes. The man is 83 now.

Speilberg and Whinny from the Temple of Doom.

MM makes an appearance.

Andy Serkis, Gollum himself, addresses his troops.

And of course, BB-8 everyone.

Those are some of the best looking pictures of Hamill I've seen in a long time. It's amazing how much better he looks when he doesn't completely let himself go.

Hamill is just great. He's probably one of the Top 5 voice actors of all time and truly a man of the fans. Harrison Ford will go along with it and is a very good sport despite not being really invested, but it's really Hamill that goes down in the trenches with the fandom and handles them well. You can tell he loves what he does, even if his live action film career didn't quite worked out as he hoped. Really good guy.

Here's the first reactions from critics attending the premiere. (SPOILER FREE)

Nathan Best @Nathan_Best
You are NOT ready! Forget what you think you know about #TheForceAwakens. I can't wait to see it again this weekend!

quote:

Anthony Breznican @Breznican
I'll say this to non-spoiler about #StarWars #TheForceAwakens. You'll laugh more than you expect. And you'll be hit harder than you expect.

quote:

RainnWilson ? @rainnwilson
1st Star Wars review: it was epic, awesome & perfect. The cast was stellar. JJ killed it!

quote:

Steven Weintraub ? @colliderfrosty
Not going to say much till I see it again but rest assured THE FORCE AWAKENS is the best STAR WARS since 1983...maybe 1980.

Out of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This about sums it up:

quote:

devin faraci @devincf
THE FORCE AWAKENS proves JJ Abrams is an auteur: once again we have great characters, propulsive fun, sort of shitty, dumb story.

quote:

Germain Lussier ? @GermainLussier
Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoke to my every emotion. Most of them good, a few not, but overall it was an amazing, overwhelming experience

quote:

Peter Sciretta ? @slashfilm
Awesome. The Force has indeed awakened. I can't wait for what comes next. #StarWarsForceAwakens

quote:

Adam F. Goldberg ? @adamfgoldberg
Ranking: 1. Empire Strikes Back. 2. Force Awakens. 3. A New Hope. 4. Return of the Jedi. 5 - 8 Prequels. Thank you JJ. #TheForceAwakens

quote:

Josh Lincoln Dickey ? @JLDlite
STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is a strong, promising kickoff. As a standalone, I'd rank it #3 in the series.
