With... g-forces?
Because size has a LOT to do with g-forces
In regards to height? No, compared to all that other stuff I listed it's not that important.

Pilots have to meet the Air Force’s height, weight and physical conditioning requirements. They must be 64 to 77 inches tall when standing, and 34 to 40 inches tall when sitting. Candidates who do not meet the Air Force’s height requirements are able to apply for height waivers and still become pilots since modern aircraft seats can adjust to practically any height . Anthropometric measurements including sitting eye height and arm span are also completed. Candidates must weigh 160 to 231 pounds, depending on height. Depending on age, men cannot have more than 20 to 24 percent body fat, while women cannot have more than 28 to 32 percent body fat. Pilots also must be able to complete a minimum number of push-ups and sit-ups and finish a timed 1 ½-mile run
That's airforce, but I doubt the navy's is much different.

I don't really have any issue with them having a female pilot. They have had female pllilots graduate from top gun, so why wouldn't they have one in the movie.
It movies that force females into roles that don't make sense that bothers me.

the film is "military propaganda"
That's what they said about the original. Calling it a recruiting tool and that's why the Navy was so willing to help out in the filming.
I think with these endless wars and countless Hurt Lockers and Black Hawks Down or Lone Survivor...
It's maybe okay for the precious public to see a rah-rah good old fashioned 80s American movie.
I mean we've had enough movies and reality in news for people not to want to enlist in the military for generations...critics are insufferable...can we just have ONE movie about the military where we don't feel like shite and get all depressed?
Moviegoers don't go to movies to watch CNN.

A turkish guy I used to know in NYC when I was 22 told me a lot of Turkish snipers are women cause they are better at controlling their nerves.

A female set on revenge can be a cold bitch, no doubt.

Something tells me the Navy would have been a lot less willing to take a bunch of actors on joyrides doing acrobatics in $60+ million Super Hornets if the movie painted them in a bad light.

I had a short lived job in a theater during my summer college break. The night before Top Gun premiered, the Manager let us all stay after shift and watch the film. This was a big no no in the distribution contract and before the days of midnight premieres. We turned the sound system ALL THE WAY up and it was awesome.

My wife acts like she’s been shot by a sniper when a truck merges 500’ ahead of us on the interstate

Well that's a seriously scientific analysis right there.

It’s because women are good just laying down all day taking shots to the face.

Have an upvote.
Side note: the best part of having a female pilot is we get a playing with the girls volleyball scene instead.
I guess they are sticking with Miramar and the beach? Even though top gun moved to Fallon, Nevada years ago...
Having been to Fallon, I can say it isn't really a great place for a movie, lol.

Top Gun: Maverick has joined the elite — sequels that both surpass their predecessors yet pay tribute to them. Follow-ups are a regular part of our cinematic diet but now we have the game-changer we’ve been waiting for. This is how it’s done.

I shot 3 position small bore through college and they were often co-ed teams and several women were in the top ten in the NCAA. I shoot against some amazing female F-class shooters now. Some of the best ELR shooters are women too.
That being said snipers are a lot more than shooting. Actually, I would argue shooting is the easiest of all the required disciplines. You have to have the patience of a rock and that knocks out most of the population male or female. Now I don't know if I trust the 300+ kills Lady Death was credited with in WWII but even half that shows at least some women can be exceptional snipers.
