I view these as two different things.
Iconic is probably the following:
The Wizard of Oz
Star Wars
Snow White
Casablanca
TGTBTU
Timeless if much more difficult, as I do think there are a lot of timeless films.

Without more specific criteria, it’s impossible to list only 5

The 10 Commandments with Heston
Gone With The Wind
The Patriot
Patton
Dr. Strangelove
This is hard!

Easy Rider has to be up there. Not my favorite, but it marked a transition from movie presentation of the '60s into the '70s.

It would be hard to come up with a definitive top five list of iconic movies, but any such list without Casablanca or the The Godfather, automatically deems your list dubious at best imo.
Where I may stray from about 95% of others, is that I would include King Kong in such list. The original of course.

Snow White
I was just about to post Snow White. Made in 1937 and their was literally nothing like it ever done before. Highest grossing sound movie until Gone With the Wind took that title. It grossed four times more money than any other movie that year.
Snow White
Gone with the Wind
The Godfather
Star Wars
Forrest Gump
Others:
It's a Wonderful Life
Casablanca
The Ten Commandments
Bridge Over the River Kwai
Ben Hur
Doctor Zhivago
The Graduate
The Godfather
The Exorcist
Blazing Saddles
Grease
Raiders of the Lost Ark
ET
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List
Full Metal Jacket

Deep Throat was groundbreaking in many ways
True, but you can make an argument that Debbie Does Dallas had a cuter star and a better anal scene.

But that's why it's one of the best. It was technically a silly arse retarded movie. But it's still a classic.
The Wizard of Oz is just a metaphor for human awakening. You can set Dark Side of the Moon to it perfectly.

Aladdin was the blockbuster movie that signalled the resurgence of animation as financially lucrative art form. All the ensuing Disney/Pixar hits owe a ton to Alladin.
IDK, the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast were both big hits, BATB was nominated for best picture
ETA: BATB was the #1 of the year

I'd argue Beauty and The Beast is more iconic than Aladdin. Crazy thing is neither likely get made if it wasn't for the success of the Little Mermaid having cross over appeal with adults.
I think Snow White, as others have said is probably more "iconic" than either as it just completely blew away anything that had been done before.
I'd go
Jaws
Gone with the Wind
Godfather
Star Wars
as my other choices.

Why didn’t The witch just get the shoes back? Weren’t they her property? We don’t know because absolutely nothing is explained. I had these same questions 30 years ago when I was a kid.

Wasn’t the Wizard of Oz about monetary policy of the late 1800’s/early 1900’s?
Abbreviation for ounce is oz and the push was for the silver standard(original color of Dorothy’s slippers). Witched witch of the east(banks) killed by a house(homeownership), witch of the west killed by water(plight of farmers due to drought), the yellow or gold brick road led to the wizard.
