I was reading through some Best Movies of the Decade list and thinking about my own best movies of the decade and realized how many strong documentaries have come out since 2010. I'm interested to hear if there are some I haven't gotten to watch yet that are really good too.

Here are my top 5 of the last 10 years:

1. Three Identical Strangers
2. Tower
3. Blackfish
4. Free Solo
5. Catfish

HM: Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Haven't seen: 13th, OJ: Made in America, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Minding the Gap, Searching for Sugar Man, The Act of Killing

Might be the best documentary I've ever seen.

Recently watched The Devil Next Door, The Confession Killer, and The Keepers. Confession Killer was probably my favorite of the three.

Think I'll start this next.

Looking forward to HBO's documentary about the golden state killer, based on Michelle McNamara's (Patton Oswalt's late wife) true crime book "I'll Be Gone in the Dark."

Knuckle (2011). This is the best doc ever made. Underground traveler bare knuckle boxing. With family feuds, VHS shite talking, and everything in between.

Best of Enemies (2015). Thoroughly engaging and very relevant in today's political climate. This is about Gore Vidal and William F Buckley and their debates at the 1968 Democratic convention.

Cleanflix (2009-2010). This was distributed in 2010 and only had a very limited release in late 2009, so I'm counting it. This is about Mormon editing of movies for distribution among Mormons. This documentary is INSANE.

Milius (2013). Great doc about the most talented guy of the "blockbuster" generation. Really puts the 70s film era in perspective.

Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films (2014). Another great "movie" doc. About Cannon studio and all that insanity. This is kind of the successor to American Movie, which is one of my favorite documentaries of all time. It encompasses the "Dream" aspect but how they brought it to another level.

Thank you

Both are much closer to found footage than documentaries
