Holy crap. That scene. Easily the most terrified I've been in a theater. I'm sure I've told this story before, but this is absolutely true. I saw this with my girlfriend, and the scene was so intense she walked out of the theater. She said about half of the audience was out in the lobby waiting for the scene to end and when she came back into the theater, I was white as a sheet and literally hugging the middle aged woman in the row in front of me, both of us shaking from fear.
What an intense f'n scene.

Good lord, what scene...the abduction scene I assume?
I only ask because I've seen the movie several times and don't ever remember being freaked out or anything like that.

The Peanut Butter Solution.
Watched it a bunch as a kid and it always left me messed up. Watched it again recently and it still scares the crap out of me.

The exorcist (will always be number 1)
the very first friday the 13th
the town that dreaded sundown (cuz it was based ona real story and they never find the guy)
ETA: Chainsaw may have made this lsit if i had seen it wehn it was released. Had already seen a few friday 13 and halloweens before i saw chainsaw.by then it seemed kinda tame.

Night of the Living Dead still irks me. it's not scary per se but it brings up a feeling that has always bothered me, that slow relentless feeling that no matter how many you kill or where you go they are always there surrounding you and closing in.
:shudder:

The Strangers.
It wasn't an overall scary movie but they had some intense scenes in it. shite had me checking doors and windows for weeks.

(1.) "Curse of the Demon" (1958) Dana Andrews
Saw this one as a kid in the '70's and it stained my tighty whiteys. If they ever did a remake of it, with today's special effects, it would be a blockbuster.
(2.) "The Excorcist" (1973)
(3) "The Mist" - This one was a LOT scarier than I expected.

True story. A teenager came to my door Halloween night with this shite on and never said a word. He just stood there with his bag open staring at me. Freaked me the frick out.

Without a doubt the scariest movie I have ever seen

The Ring
Paranormal Activity 1 (saw it when it was only supposed to be in select theatres for a few nights and nobody really knew about it)
Gothika
The Ring scared the frick out of me. Used to live within walking distance of Grand Cinema. My cousin and i were 13 and were planning on sneaking into 8 mile so we just bought a random ticket for another movie which happened to be The Ring. Needless to say, we weren't able to sneak into 8 mile and got stuck seeing The Ring which we didnt know anything about. Worst walk home from a movie ever...

1. The Grudge
2. The Ring
3. Watching Paranormal Activity 1 in the theaters with no preconceived idea of what the movie was about.

for me, the scariest combination is a "true story" where the killer is still on the loose at the end of the movie.
