Maybe he told some sailors not to look at him any differently than anyone else on the ship and they misheard or took it the wrong way? Echoing what others have said, he’s one of the good guys.

he is generally considered one of the most professional and generous actors to both fans and crew.

were these featured extras? maybe he didn't want someone in his eyeline, but i cannot imagine he would treat military personnel like that.

Ok. I can't take that site, Heroic Hollywood, seriously...

It was a really well maintained and reliable site. After Umberto Gonzales left the Latino Review to start it, it had real scoops. (The Latino Review made its bones by scooping the world with their revelation of unknown Brandon Routh being cast as Superman.) I think Gonzales passed it off to others who now fill it with click-bait items linking to worthless fan art. “Armie Hammer replaces Ben Affleck as Batman (in this fan art).”

I met Tom Cruise twice, and he was very down to earth and gracious.

all is probably true, except making a good movie since the 90s. anything he touches is gold for the most part.

you also got people posting 3rd party, "my sister said"... blah blah blah.

Tom Cruise has long been considered one of the nicest guys in Hollywood so this is pretty surprising.

This is the exact opposite of what I've heard about Tom Cruise. He filmed most of American Made right down the street from my parent's neighborhood. It's a small town and everyone that ran into him said he was a really nice and approachable guy.

He doesnt want anyone looking at him because that's not Tom Cruise. The real Tom Cruise is held in the basement of Scientology headquarters

I’m the last one that would be sticking up for any celeb, but Cruise has literally saved people’s lives or at least from serious injury on at least a couple of occasions, and much feedback over the years in him being a friendly person.

Plus it looks odd how, rather than different examples, all the complaints seem to be the same almost exact occurrence, like all these people or their friends/relatives were standing right there on a ship when he said/did this. It appears as pile-on trolling.

My guess is Tom Cruise didn't walk down a tight hallway on a ship and tell people not to look at him. The internet is internetting on this on.

My Tom Cruise story: That freaking dude just strolled through the gates of Race and Religious at a wedding I was in when he was in town shooting Jack Reacher. Him, his assistant and two body guards were driving by and thought it was a cool outdoor lounge. When he saw it was a wedding he apologized and started to leave when the bride's mom yelled "you can just stay!" He laughed, took a couple of pics with the bride & groom, ate and drank for about an hour and bolted. He only asked not to post pics of him there on social media because people like to find him. He was about as legit of a nice guy as I've ever seen. The groom had Pregame playing for the garter toss and he talked with us for about 10 minutes about his trip to Tiger Stadium and how awesome it was. My guess is some of those people are playing the internet version of the telephone game.

Okay, I see posts with that handle, Intergalactic Walrus, connected to an Anti-Scientology group. While I have nothing but disdain for Scientology, there’s no justification for lying about someone’s character because of being against it. I mean, you’re doing the same shite you attack Scientology for, lying and character assassination. Most of the actual complaints (as opposed to reactions or blind agreements) are very limited in number and just look funny/suspect to me.

People love to take any mundane encounter they have with a celebrity and spin it to seem more interesting than it was.

I remember I was at a restaurant with some family once and there was some C-list actor at a table nearby (think he was known for some soap opera, I had never heard of him). My crazy aunt decides to go ask him for a picture while he's eating with his wife. He politely declines, and she comes back to our table all in a rage about what an a-hole he is and how she won't be watching his show anymore and all this and we all just laugh at her and tell her she's blowing it way out of proportion. People get their little egos hurt and start making crap up about what actually happened.

I can't imagine how annoyed I'd be if I was famous and had to read embellished stories about random interactions fans claimed they had with me.

I think martin luther king jr said it best. judge not based on uniform worn, but content of character.

just because you serve in the military does not automatically earn you respect.

Everyone I've known who has ever met the guy have said he's one of the nicest dudes they've ever had the fortune of meeting. He must be one of those dudes that is intense when he's working, because these "stories" are incongruous with what my friends have told me to say the least.
