Sopranos is probably my favorite show of all time. I really wanted to give this movie the theater watch, but I went to see venom last night instead. Really good by the way, way better than the garbage that was the first one. I think I might give this one a Monday morning HBO max watch. Can’t wait

In the 70s there wasn't a bigger cocksucker than Phil Leotardo....

I liked it. The end felt like a setup for the Tony origin movie we all deserve. Michael Gandolfini already said he would do it if asked.

Would rather not see him jerking off in a tissue though.

I think you meant older.

The Soprano (DiMeo) family were, at least originally, allies of the Lupertazzi family. The Lupertazzi are one of the five families of New York. Lupertazzi family is based on the Gambino family.

So a glorified crew

Uneven for sure. But about the killer and Junior ordering the hit: I think the cop did it. I think the cop that says to Dickie "You think this is funny" as the riots are breaking out and the voice on the phone to Junior sound a LOT like Lieutenant Detective Barry Haydu.

It sounded like Paulie imo, and there seems to be alot of speculation about that. Interesting theory on the cop, could have been. I think they set it up for another project bc there is no way the fans are gonna let DC live this down. They want to see how Tony ended up where he was at the start of the show.

As for the age gaps, Silvio made no sense. But was it ever clearly stated that "Pussy" was Tony's Pussy and not Pussy Malanga. he was around Juniors age. I haven't rewatched for obvious reasons, but I don't think they ever give his last name. But he is definitely casted to look like Bumpiensero.

That was the problem. All the "mimicking" by actors who aren't talented enough to pull it off almost made it seem like they were making fun of them. That old MAD TV sopranos skit from back in the day had a hell of a lot better performances than this pile of shite

Young Silvio was the worst. In the series Silvio had some strange mannerisms but was generally believable. In the movie it was like watching a comedian doing an impression for laughs

Very disappointed. Disjointed snoozefest that tries to pack too much into 2 hours.

A guy I know who had never watched the Soprano's (unbelievable) said the same thing

Wikipedia says it’s Bumpiensero.

Nobody that watched The Sopranos gave a shite about SJW shite. The movie we wanted was how lil' Tony worked his way up and built his crew.

If you have watched the series as much as I have, you'd wondered about one thing. Tony and Tony B spent summers in upstate on the farm. Christopher came along, and started going up there too. Christopher had bad feeling about how they treated him. Was Tony and Tony B 25-30 years old and messing with a little kid?

Because that's the trailer we got...

LINK

If you watch that, there's only one thing to assume...and that's that you're going to see young Tony as a teenager and watch his relationship with Dickie. The trailer LITERALLY starts with total focus on teenaged Tony and the entire thing centers on that. In reality, we got a movie that barely featured Tony at either age, never really understood what eventually motivated Tony at all, and was mostly focused on Dickie's solo issues with Harold. I'd go as far as to call it a blatant bait and switch, in that had they actually showed you in the trailer that the movie was going to so prominently feature the storylines which were actually there, there would have been far less interest in the movie. Instead, they tossed out a bunch of nostalgia bait.

Looking back, I think my favorite scene in the whole movie was where Tony's Mom decided to "try" and be nice after hearing what he'd said to the school counselors and make him a hamburger, but she couldn't stay sane long enough to not freak out. It reminded me a ton of watching Tony walk on eggshells around her in the show, trying to make her happy and ultimately never being able to and just being frustrated. More so than any scene, this actually alluded to the Tony we'd ultimately see in my mind.

Really disappointing, but did make me want to go back and do a re-watch of the show...so thanks for that I guess.

That was really bad. Him trying to do the hound dog droopy mouth thing looked like he had Bell's palsy. But seeing some nobody actor doing the two finger pointing thing with that awful lisp to try and imitate Paulie literally made me laugh out loud. Thinking about it now I'd actually say it's one of the worst mob shows or movies I've ever seen

I’m meh about the movie but glad we got new Sopranos content overall.

Can we talk about how harrowing the opening graveyard scene with all the dead telling their life stories was? That shite immediately caught my attention.

I think it would be even worse for someone who had never watched the series.

No Easter eggs and the Silvio and Paulie caricatures would come across even more ridiculous.

I re watched this morning, it’s not as bad when you do a re watch. Not as much trying to figure out who’s who.
