Also, Skinny Petes interview with the cops from the trailer isn’t in the movie. I am confused

I happened on some info today. Apparently the original cut was 3 hours long so a solid 30% ended up on the cutting room floor. There was a much longer scene with Jane at the end which was actually the alternate to the ending where the letter to Brock was read over Jesse driving in AK. Jesse also got shot in the shootout scene and spent time rehabbing with Ed prior to heading to AK. While it wasn't mentioned specifically by VG I assume the Skinny Pete scene, as well as others (the above couldn't account for near an hour of film), were also cut. VG hopes they will be included in the home video releases as deleted scenes.

I feel like I've seen a bunch of trailers over the years where a deleted scene, or even an alternate take of a scene, is used in the trailer. I don't think it's uncommon. And it may or may not be done on purpose, since the trailers are made long before the final cut of the movie is decided.

Although with El Camino, the teasers/trailers were very close to release so using a deleted scene appears to be deliberate.

Lydia was indeed the woman they were talking about that was poisoned

Did realize that Lydia was from Houston. I could see her living in the woodlands

I sincerely want the last 2.5 hours of my life back. The movie added zero to "the greatness" of BB. Then I sat here and read all of you guy's positive review of the movie. It was nothing but a money grab.

It’s effectively an excuse to watch characters again and worked very well as an epilogue to the show.

I enjoyed the hell out of going back into the world but I won’t watch it again.

My only complaint was the Walt flashback was a retread with the other ones being such good narratives pushing the story forward.

does anyone know what the purpose was of the walt flashback? was it just fan service? to tell us he could go to college? genuine question.

Why? so you can continue to miss the point about him being a broken man?

Didn't think you had an answer.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was funny how the writers had Jesse use a phonebook TWICE. Massive phonebooks aren't a thing anymore.

Well, some context to this would be:

1) this movie depicts events that happened immediately after other events in 2013 (end of BrBa show)...2013 was definitely in the shifting period where phones absolutely took over and dominated our lives...but I think you may be looking at a 2013 event through 2019 eyes

2) the characters that have phonebooks are from the poor/lower class....who have burner phones. not everyone is rocking the newest iPhone, whether out of choice (stuck in past) or out of circumstances (can't afford smart phones (also, I know they are drug dealers...but they lived in pretty rough conditions....like almost every druggie in existence)).

There are articles written in 07 about the shrinking of phonebooks. Massive phonebooks weren't a thing in 2013 either. The ones they used in the movie are the size of ones I got in the 90s. I just thought it was funny how the writers went to that well not once but twice. Like I said I enjoyed it but I can take it for what it is as entertainment and not a cult worship like many do for the Breaking Bad series.

While we're on it that junkyard guy scanning the car the second the tracking was turned on is some comicbook stuff.

Fair enough. The lojack scanning thing was the only big miss for me in this movie.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it, but really nothing note worthy happened. Was great to be back in the BB universe though. Walt walking out of his hotel room was awesome.

It's about us looking back after all this time and away from the moment, to show just exactly where Walter's mind was in S2. being a father, husband, friend and teacher wasnt special to him.

The show started in 2008 and roughly 2 years passed in the show. So it’s more around 2010, but yea I don’t think phonebooks were too popular then either
