Sadly, Kim makes the real Jimmy so much better. She grounds him and lets him to real work.
The one person who told him every fricked up thing he did she was ok with made him better?
quote:
But Jimmy allows the real Kim to remember just how fun the cons are
Yeah, fun destroying a man’s life for no reason. I guess I’m the only person who hated Kim. Kim is like a kid getting in trouble and doing bad things to try to impress the older “cool” kids, but not understanding the consequences of those actions.
Kim is like those teenage girls who get involved with older guys then end up killing their parents. It was like her entire life came down to trying to make this sleazy old guy think she wasn’t a square. Even her mannerisms were very childlike.
quote:
Having Kim and Jimmy share a cigarette like they used to do outside of the HHM building was just sublime.
This is the kind of person who would think this show was amazing. “OMG THEY SHARED A CIG JUST LIKE IN THE BEGINNING! BEST! SHOW! EVER!”

Really nice summation, TheTideMustRoll!
Thank you!

I think Walt’s highest desire is status and power, while money is a proxy for those things.
I can see that. After giving it some further thought I think it all comes down to Walt needing to be seen as the smartest person in any room he is in. If he had stuck with Grey Matter he would have been considered one of the smartest guys in the world. Instead he's a high school teacher. But once he enters the drug world, he comes to be seen as the smartest guy in that world - no one can replicate his product (except eventually Jesse, who uses his exact method), and he outsmarts and eliminates anyone who tries to cross him. People are afraid of him because he is smart. That's ultimately what he gets off on. Money is just a way of keeping score.

Mike only regretted starting to take bribes cause it ended up getting his son killed. The guy went from dirty cop to cartel hitman. He was what he was.
Kim was a sociopath. Her conscience didn’t get her to own up to the things she did. She did it because Saul called her out. It was basically like, “oh yeah, I’ll show you”.
Walt regretted the company thing not because of greed, but because it started him down the path to were he ended up. Had he stayed with the company, there would be no need for him to start the meth business, which is why he became Heisenberg.
The guy wasn’t always evil. It’s why he told Saul he would have never hired a guy like Saul as his lawyer if he sued that company. His regret was the moment that led to his family not being financially stable, the meth, the murders.
Your view of Jimmy shows you completely missed the point of the show. Jimmy was always Saul, from the time he was a kid. Chuck didn’t create Saul. Saul wasn’t a good guy who cared about Marie’s hurt. He didn’t kill Marion cause it wasn’t his style to get his hands dirty like that. He only took responsibility in the end to impress his literal partner in crime.

Those are some, uh, interesting takes. I will restrict myself to simply saying, "I disagree."

Agreed. It misses a lot of the nuances of his character and why people liked him but it's not false.

Again it misses a lot of the nuances of the character but somewhat true. I think she felt genuine remorse and isn't a true sociopath. But she and Jimmy did some absolutely horrible things and I don't think Kim got what she deserved. I liked her character so I'm glad she has a "happy" ending, but what they did to Howard was unforgiveable even before Lalo showed up.

Mostly agree. Walt always had it in him. It took a death sentence for him to embrace it. But for him it was always about the power and respect. The money was (as someone else put beautifully) just a way to keep score. He is still telling people he was tricked/pushed out of his company when I believe he left because he didn't think it would amount to anything.
I don't think he said he would never use Saul because of ethics. He truly thought Saul was a bottom dweller and would never publicly associate with him on something important.

Mostly agree again. Saul or Slippin' Jimmy was more than just a persona. It's what Jimmy's drug of choice. It's how he coped with the world around him. I see him not as a truly evil person. He cared for people and had a good side. But he also was able to easily move past that. I find him more gray than black or white. Probably a darker gray overall. Killing the old lady would have been much further than he ever went. Whether he didn't do it because he literally couldn't or because he felt the pull back to a good side is interpretation.
I think your comments are pretty much in line with what I see. But you're missing all of the little details that make it possible for the fans to root for people that do such horrible things. Most everyone on the show did bad things but also did many good. And most got what they deserved at the end. Kim got off light as far as the judicial system but she at least paid a huge emotional price. Jimmy got it the best. He probably lives in jail like a king with little to no worry about his safety. Everybody he feared in the show is dead and other criminals think he's the shite. He's not free in the physical sense but he's not hiding anything any more. His life is his own again. And it keeps alive the hope of an El Camino type movie in a few years to see how Jimmy is running the prison!

Takes based on information the show presented to us. Kim and Jimmy were terrible human beings. Mike had lines he wouldn’t cross, like harming innocent people. But the guy was a dirty cop and a murderer. Walt was a pushover who let power go to his head from the anger of being screwed out of a fortune.

Fair. All the shite she went through when she was a kid fricked her up and she never matured out of being that little kid. That’s why she was attracted to Saul and doing terrible shite genuinely made her happy.

Agree. The ending was spoiled for me but i could only get through about three quarters of the final episode because it was pointless.

Pointless. Made zero sense. Yet people loved it.

Mike in the beginning scene. You could see the polar opposites between them 2 . Mike would change moments in his life with his family and Saul was only worried about money once again. No money will ever be enough for Saul. Saul’s worth ethic stays untouched. He used his phone call to Cinnabum. :bow
The Walter White Scene with him looking down at Saul and saying "So you've always been like this was great.
I feel like having watched this 2 years after it aired I have a more level head than some of these people in here. Many of you witnessed some of the greatest tv episodes ever multiple times in season 6 and kept expecting these Super Bowl moments of BB world and then your high came down on the more slower story time episodes at the end. This was fantastic television all season.
Let me end with a JD quote from scrubs finale that will tie this all together.
Endings are never easy, I always build them up so much in my head they can’t possibly live up to my expectations, I just end up disappointed. I’m not even sure why it matters to me so much how things end here.
This will go down as one of the all time great series finales with Scrubs “my finale” Breaking Bad” “Mash” “Cheers” “Fringe” “The Wire”.

Not for me. Loved the show but not the last 2-3 episodes.

It’s a fun little movie, but it’s nowhere near the level of BB or BCS

It’s amazing what kind of lengthy essays some people were posting about this show, like they thought the narco soap opera was great literature or something.

the last episodes were exactly how it needed to end. We had like 5 all time great episodes before that in season 6.This isn't breaking bad. This is about a lawyer.

it's one of the best tv show prequels of all time. Do you not agree?
