I dont see Kim getting vacuumed cleanered with Saul staying behind on his own accord.
Especially not if she gets sent to Omaha like someone suggested before, since we have seen Saul alone in Omaha work at Cinnabon living a Depressing existence.
I also dont see Saul continuing in Albuquerque if Kim gets offed by the cartel, he would vacuum cleaner out, and I really doubt the guy would send him the same place...that would be too hot for him, hes very careful.
I think essentially the realistic plays are
Kim gets in an accident and dies or she dumps Saul and leaves on her own.
Or Ham is correct and they remain at a minimum as business ‘partners’. Continued love interest makes little sense imo, given Saul in BB.

Am I the only one who thought $7 mil would weigh more and take up more then two duffle bags?

I dont see kim dying like people speculate. I think that would destroy jimmy so much he couldnt be saul.
I think Kim makes Jimmy choose Her or Saul. Or maybe pushes her out of his life to protect her.
..and then gene maybe goes in search.

I dont think she dies either, but options are narrowing and now I don’t know what to think. I didn’t see ham being close to correct given Saul we knew from BB, but it’s one of the narrow possibilities.

Ha I had no clue. But I looked it up just now and it says 1million would weight ~20 lbs if in 100s. So 7 would be 140lbs. So 70 lbs in each duffle bag. I think Vince Gillian said for filming they started with 30-40 lbs worth. Odenkirk wanted weight added to man up, but by the end of the day and on subsequent days he had to knock the weight down.
Saul Goodman is a fricking ox. Carrying 140 lbs for miles in the desert for over a day with piss for refreshment.

He isn't deep enough into the criminal lawyer life yet to even know the vacuum man.

I'm just speculating, but my gut has always told me Saul's first experience with the disappearer involves Nacho.
I still feel this way I'm just wondering how Saul finds him. I think it will come from the veterinarian.
I also think the vet tells Mike and he lets Saul handle it.
I say this because Nacho told Mike the he and his dad need to get out of there. Mike knows that when Gus is done with Nacho he will consider him a loose end, but Mike has respect for Nacho.
Mike finds the disappearer, let's Saul handle it. This way Mike can do the right thing and harmlessly betray Gus and protect Nacho in a way that doesn't point back to Mike.
I'm totally guessing on this one, but that's what seems to check the most boxes with everything we know at this point.
I also believe when Lalo dies that 7 million goes back in the hands of Saul and that is somehow the way Saul and Nacho screwed Lalo. He's dead and they decide what to do with that cash.

Variety has a great interview with Vince Gilligan where he speaks to that.
quote:
I wanted Bob to be method and drink his own pee. He’s pretty method, but he drew the line at that. But yeah, those, those prop bags of money would weigh 150 pounds. Mark Hanson, our prop master, figured out that each bag would weigh 75 pounds for a total of 150, if they were real. That’s how much $7 million in hundreds actually weighs, believe it or not. Bob wanted them pretty heavy, but not that heavy. And I think as the days progressed, the prop bags got a little lighter and a little lighter. Because it was rough.

He also pumps the next eps pretty hard:

Episodes 9 and 10, they’re just big and there’s so much stuff that’s going to happen coming up next. I can’t wait for audiences to see it. This show is on rails from here on out. It just goes, there’s just so much stuff going on. And these worlds really continue to collide, like the Hindenburg crashing into Lakehurst, N.J. The catastrophe keeps getting bigger and bigger, between Saul Goodman’s world and the world of the cartel and Gus Fring and Mike Ehrmantraut and Nacho Varga and Lalo Salamanca. There’s all kinds of big stuff coming up and I can’t wait for audiences to see it.

Great episode title.

I listen to the official podcast after the episodes.
Couple things:
This was an not a cheap episode to make, double the amount of time to film an episode.
Plus had to put up the whole crew in hotels and what not for a long time.
Ham is right, Tohajiilee where they filmed this episode was where the last official scenes of Breaking Bad was filmed for Ozymandias (the finale was filmed before that)
Also, Gilligan directed this one as it fit in his schedule because they had just completed the movie at that time.

I know. But he also isnt at the point to need it yet either. I dont think not having met someone at this point means much considering we are discussing ‘future events’ to begin with. You are dismissing a prediction of the future, because something in the future hasn’t happened yet.
You think if Kim got offed, and he met the vacuum guy a couple month later, he just would have forgotten about the whole thing and stick around? No if he knew the guy, and had a reason to go, he’d go.
Also nacho/dad may need an out soon. That could potentially be a way to introduce the disappearer pretty soon.

Have we talked about how Saul is even going to explain all of this to Lalo?
He can't say "oh, I was hijacked by some guys but one of Gus Fring's guys killed them all, we walked through the desert and he let me keep the 7 mil."
I assume he's going to say his car broke down and he was stranded with no signal and walked through the desert with 7 million or something to that effect.

i assume after kim's visit lalo sent the twins out to look for saul and found the scene of the shootout so that's off the table. its not like he's going to write off the 7 million without having the twins follow up on it.

That's certainly a possibility. I'd be surprised if Gus didn't send someone out to clean up the scene.
Also...Jimmy's prints are on one of those guns.

good point. it could all be about who gets there first. gus would quickly assess the situation and come up with a way to protect his interest (which is getting lalo out of jail).

Kind of strange that Mike seems to absolutely despise Saul by the Breaking Bad era.
You would think he would have a little grudging respect for him after this episode. Sure, he whined but for being dropped head first into hell, he actually acquitted himself quite well out there.

Finally got a chance to watch.
So who was trying to get the money? Rival cartel?
They reminded me of the Nazi freaks at the end of BB.

I think it's just some random crew similar to that crew that the cousins and Nacho shot up that one time.
I don't think they're important, just needed to tell this episode.

Gilligan said in the Variety article that they are cartel-adjacent, exact identity fuzzy at this point.
quote:
Who are those thieves? How are they connected to the Salamancas?
They are cartel-adjacent. In the teaser, you see the middle-aged gentleman who seems to be in charge of “Salamanca treasure cave” as we called it — that warehouse filled with exotic cars and then thousands of pounds of cash and the counting room and all that. He seems to be in charge of the facility, and at the end of that teaser seems to be ratting out the cousins. To who, Peter, Gordon and the writers know but I don’t think we have established that yet for the audience.
