Ok, so it seems like a lot of people really really hate this movie. And I ask you, what do you expect?

The movie opens with the text

“One billion people were turned into werewolves last year due to a freak super moon phenomenon. Tonight, there will be another one.”

If you can get behind that premise says whether you will enjoy this movie or not.

I am one of those people who does.

Moonscreen (a la sunscreen) makes an appearance 15 minutes in.

It’s just so damn silly you can’t help but giggle at the movie throughout.

It has plenty of issues. The effects….. ain’t great. There’s some major major ….errors in the movie .

I really didn’t mind. That just plays more into the almost sci fi original nature of the movie.

With that being said…. I did like a lot of the directing of scenes. There’s a lot of show don’t tell of the exposition. And when they do tell, it at least fits into the story. The movie moves very quick. The camera is active and moves around a whole lot more than you’d expect of a movie like this.

Just….thered a lot of bad cgi and effects. There are many scenes where all they had was a werewolf snout very obviously.

Also…. The very ending…. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. People in my surprisingly full theater were clapping and giggling. Because there’s some leaps in logic man.

Anyway, i love movies like this. They’re harmless and fun in my opinion. Definition of a turn your brain off movie and enjoy the over the top action.

P.S. Katrina Law is scientist lady in this. And I don’t know why but I found her mesmerizing pretty. There’s a couple of other uniquely attractive women in there as well

Thoughts on Werewolves

Do female werewolves go in heat?

Do werewolves come out temporarily for a solar eclipse?

Why do all werewolves lose the clothes immediately? I mean a shirt can’t be easy for a wolf to remove right?

Werewolves are cool, but it's becoming a bit overdone. Saw the trailer for Wolf Man seeing Gladiator II yesterday and sort of just rolled my eyes immediately..

Dog Soldiers they were scary.
American Werewolf in Londo/Paris were scary.

Howl, while ultra-low budget is way underseen and the werewolves are vicious. Don’t remember enough to say if it’s scary but I do think it was intense

Saw yesterday. Would have been better with better effects. Still interesting premise.

Cool premise for sure but severely unexplored. Story wasn’t remotely large enough in scope. Lots didn’t make sense, didn’t really have a point. That being said, I respect the hell out of what it was trying to do, it just failed on execution. Reminded me of Resident Evil: Raccoon City meets the Purge with werewolves. Cool premise though, it just really sucks they didn’t do anything with it.

I would add Howl (2015) and The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020) to that list. Also, there is a largely forgotten TV movie called Scream of the Wolf from 1974 that has some surprisingly scary scenes.
