they don't seem to have near the star power they once had.

They don't, and I doubt that much star power is ever replicated.

Stone Cold
The Rock
Undertaker
Kane (before they ruined him)
Mankind
Hardy Boys
Edge and Christian
New Age Outlaws
Dudley Boyz
Too Cool
The Acolytes
HHH
Shawn Michaels
Kurt Angle
Goldberg
Chris Jericho
Chris Benoit
Rob Van Damme
Booker T.....

I could go on and on. It was a crazy amount of talent on one roster. Wrestling was truly great back then.

What the frick happened to professional wrestling?

No competition.
Growing influence of Kevin Dunn.
Hiring soap opera writers for creative instead of using guys like Paul Heyman.
Johnny Ace replacing Jim Ross as vp of talent years ago.

PG has nothing to do with it. That certainly didn't hurt WCW when they were kicking the shite out of the WWF.

I don't know if I just grew out of wrestling or it just went to total shite, could be both.

It's definitely both. I was in love with wrestling when I was a kid (circa maybe fourth grade through middle school). Then sort of got tired of it. But then got WAY back into it in college. Me and my roommate used to watch it every week. We called it our soap operas. But eventually we grew out of it and it sort of got pretty stupid.

But the whole "attitude" thing with the WWF/E was right up our college-aged alleys, so it resonated with us and we thought it was hysterical.

I miss the APA protection Agency, and I still have my DX Jersey from back in the day.

i will say, i got to meet Farouq, Bradshaw and Mick Foley in Bham many years ago - those guys were super cool - easily my fav wrestlers - oh and Teddy Long when he was a ref.

I went to high school with one of Paul Bearer's sons.

I met Paul Bearer and the Undertaker when they did a Raw is War in Mobile in 1997.

The Undertaker was pretty cool to us but then again, we were also hanging out with Bearer's son, Michael Moody at the time.

also got to meet Bob Holly. That was before he started the Hardcore Holly angle. Owen Hart volunteered to put Bob Holly over in front of his hometown crowd which was pretty cool.

so Holly got an upset win over Owen Hart that night.

but the Hart Foundation jumped him backstage later on.

That was just great television. I remember me and my roommates just going nuts laughing at some of the skits they pulled off and those dudes knew how to put on a show in the ring.

The feud between Nation of Domination and DX was great television.
