The Kevin was married to Sophie news was interesting. I'm anxious to see how that developed up to the divorce. I wonder if she and Kate remained friends throughout?
Hated seeing the funeral scene even though I really want to know how Jack died and the status of the marriage at the time in addition to how Rebecca and Jack's best friend ended up married.
Lots going on.

I'm guessing once he started to get kind of famous he started running through 10s like water and that was the end of that.

and has already been stated, the funeral scene hit the feels and they are probably towards their last year in high school or in college when that happens. so im guessing jack passes in the late 90s/early 2000s
and yea, introducing sophie was a very smart move and kevins storyline all of a sudden becomes very intriguing

Randall is the best, and Kevin is the worst. When they did the episode about the birth from Major Dad's perspective I kept thinking, "man it sure does suck that the baby that died wasn't Kevin."

His story definitely needed a jolt. It was uninteresting and he appeared to be nothing more than a shallow good looking actor type. Definitely the weakest link for me. I was more interested in what happened with the fireman and his wife and I still am.

The writers have explicitly said that they weren't able to give Kevin the depth they wanted, right out of the gate because Justin Hartley still had one foot in at The Young & the Restless, since they didn't know how This Is Us was going to do.
Ever since TIU was picked up for the full 1st season, (and triply so now that they've been signed for Seasons 2 & 3), he's officially out at Y&R, so they can get some meat on his character's metaphorical bones.

Kevin's character definitely needs some meat.
I read a good article and interview yesterday.

One thing about the funeral scene bothered me. Jack was cremated and we know that Kate has his ashes. The funeral scene was shot outside. Why was a service outside if there was no burial or vault that the ashes would go into? Funeral services are usually only outside when there is a graveside service of some sort. Maybe it was done for dramatic effect only, but it didn't make any sense to me.
Also, why does Kate have the ashes? Did Rebecca keep them and then Kate take them with her when she moved out of the house? Or did she ask Rebecca for them when Rebecca married Miguel whenever that was?

I highly doubt this. He's 36 now. They've been divorced 12 years. Means he was 24. This is well before any kind of Manny fame.

Sophie apparently is a nurse which is hot.
The Notting Hill scene was funny.
Don't wanna see Jack go. Looked like the kids were teens, we know he's still alive while they play HS football.

I think it's been revealed in an interview that they were 16/17

I must be the only one who thinks this show is sappy crap purposely written to get the most "feels" possible like a bad lifetime movie. I'm truly astonished that so many men of Tigerdroppings watch this drivel. If y'all like this, go turn on the Hallmark channel, there is a Valentine's movie marathon.
I thought the pilot was pretty good too, but the constant sap became tiring. I prefer Parenthood to this any day.

Every time a watch and episode it makes me want to be a better dad and husband. I'll keep watching unapologetically until that is no longer the case.

I assume you stopped watching since you said it "became" tiring in which case you don't know what's going on currently in the show. If you're still watching, then it's good enough to keep your attention. Either way, you should stop watching if it's not for you. It's not for everyone, but I love it.
I'm enjoying watching Parenthood on Netflix right now. I'm getting toward the end of season 3. My goodness, there are 5 kinds of trauma in every episode. It's good, but This is Us is tons better to me.

Re-Watching Parenthood and i hate all of the women. They all just TRY to suck at being wives and moms and daughters.
Adam is the GOAT dad
