High production value, great cast who bring great characters to life, amazing story, great set pieces, all three films have a RT score higher than 90% (Fellowship 91%, Two Towers 95%, Return of the King 94%), a film trilogy that many rewatch every year. The extended editions of the LOTR trilogy just bring even more enjoyment.

I love Star Wars, but Return of the Jedi (while a decent film) brings the Original Trilogy down.

It's a really tough call for me, but I have to agree. As you said, RotJ was a bit of a step down.

For most people I think it's going to depend on which was your first love. We're splitting hairs at this level of excellence.

Agreed. A true triumph in filmmaking. You can tell the cast and crew all had great love and respect for the source material.

I think Leone's "The Man With No Name" trilogy is right there with it.

The new Starwars Trilogy and if you don't like it, that's because you are sexist .

Maybe Back to the Future but I've never been a big fan of part 2. BTTF1 and The Two Towers are two of my favorite movies and probably the two I've seen the most.

If The Godfather III hadn’t shite the bed so horribly then that Trilogy would hands down be the best.

First two were 97% + on rotten tomatoes from both critics and general audience. Even with the 3rd one as a turd the Trilogy as a whole is still up there.

Awards aren’t the end all be all, but they do help. And these movies raked them in.

I like Lord of the Rings, but it can be extremely boring.

Mighty Ducks is the best trilogy.
