I feel like Star Wars is kind of out of this discussion now. Sure you could make an argument that the prequels don't count, I'm not sure you can with the new movies.
Plus, it also feels like maybe the legacy is kind of tarnished. Once you've seen the new stuff, can you watch the old stuff with naive eyes?
I would say the new Planet of the Apes trilogy is probably GOAT right now in overall quality. The property is niche, but the movies are outstanding. Totally underrated.
John Wick and Guardians of the Galaxy are creeping up if they can close out their respective trilogies well.

Love the LoTR Trilogy.
A trilogy that I like a lot that will get little love here is the Matrix. Love the Gnostic mysticism and world view.

I know it doesn’t get as much love as some of the other trilogies that have been mentioned but human centipede 1,2 and 3 is a must watch trilogy in my opinion. Maybe not as good as Star Wars or lotr but definitely a trilogy you don’t forget.

To each his own. I really love the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy as much as any other.
