Finally found this masterpiece on YouTube. It was hard to find because I didn’t remember the name or who was in it. I just remembered somebody died and had street racing and a ghostly car and driver would get revenge by street racing. Also remembered Skank, Gutterboy and some girl with some nice titties. It also had Randy Quaid as the main cop and Ron Howard’s brother was one of the bad gang members.

Does anybody else remember this movie?

When I watched it on YouTube, it ended about 20 minutes early and started again so I didn’t get to watch the end. So I still don’t remember what happened at the end to the bad guy Packard.

Skank was also chugging hydraulic fluid.
The WD40 was what helped him think. Lol.

I couldn't venture a guess how many times I saw it on cable back in the 80's.

Oliver Stone calling Sheen and being pissed off because he thought The Wraith was so bad it would ruin Platoon.
That was pretty funny.

There were some 80’s movies that future car did not hold up in.

This was not one of them.

There were some movies that HBO/Cinemax ran all the time and I watched them over and over as a kid. This was one of them.

Some channel brought it back into the rotation for a while maybe 10 years or so ago. No telling how many times I've seen pieces of The Wraith while flipping channels.

It popped up about two years ago on some station and there was a thread about it here. Good times.

Eta: lol

This is a thread from three months ago. I had a similar comment to my comment in this thread.

Fun fact, the real M4S had to be substituted with a less powerful version because the stunt driver almost killed himself driving the one they were originally given.

Even by today's standards, that car is fast as shite. The 2.2 litre 14 cylinder engine still stands as a unique masterwork.

I used to own the soundtrack on vinyl.

There's a pretty funny How Did This Get Made podcast episode about the movie.
