You would want to set zombie traps. Put a live animal in large wooden structure that you have soaked down with gasoline and such. When you have a large number inside you chain the door shut and set it ablaze. If you can incinerate the zombies, not only would you destroy mass numbers at a time you would also kill off any virus'.

It's all about destroying the brain.

However, they aren't inherently stronger than normal humans.
The Zombies tore that horse apart.

Anyone watch Sealab 2021 and remember the first episode where they are discussing putting their brains in robot bodies and how they got so involved in it they were oblivious to what was going on around them in the real world? That's exactly what this show/thread has done to me...

I definitely disagree with that. You chew meat pretty readily don't you? Remember Tyson vs Holyfield? lol

I am pretty sure incinerating them would do that buddy...

The PSI to bite and tear human flesh (i'm sure someone will link something) is beyond our normal capability. Yeah Tyson took a chunk from Evanders ear, but that's cartilage not flesh, and Evander pulled away pretty hard. Great White sharks have razor sharp teeth and and exert more force than we can and they still have to thrash their prey to tear the flesh.

These zombies haven't been shown as being abnormally strong, at least as far as opening doors and such. It seems like it took a day or two of mass numbes pushing on the doors to that department store to finally push them open and they couldn't force the door with the chain and the lock to get the Merle on the roof.
Also, they seem to loose one on one fights to a man with a bat or club pretty regularly. At least they go down, even if the brain then has to be killed.

I just realized AMC is "ON Demand" on Cox digital cable.

I don't think biting/tearing into human flesh is that hard, its just that no one wants to do it. Horses have thick hides and probably would be impossible for a human to bite into it. I don't think the zombies have super strength or anything, I think its just one of those small flaws you find in a story that you except because the overall quality of the show is top notch!

Also, the zombies have no pain receptors. So while we would hurt ourselves biting into a horse, zombies can just keep biting.

Can anyone explain to me why the sheriff didn't get eaten while he was in a coma? Surely the zombies could smell him. And we know they can turn a door knob.

Ive yet to see a zombie that could smell flesh through a wall...plus they had them all barricaded in that room that was chained up.

I could see zombies being able to smell for a little bit. Decomp would surely take that away after awhile.

A lot of discussion about what the zombies can and can't do, but I would like to point out that we do not know the origin story. Like others have mentioned, 28 days/weeks was based on a virus that made people rage and not a traditional zombie. Point being, anything could have caused this, and the effects of which are shown to us over time.
Seeing as how we do not know what caused this disaster, I think it is difficult to define these zombies or put them into a zombie mold created from a source outside of this work. Yes, they appear to have the qualities of traditional zombies, but I do not know if using works like WWZ to try and define them is appropriate. That is a different work. Sure you can compare the two, but they are two different stories.

Yeah that's all it is. If they could smell that well, you wouldn't be able to hide in houses or buildings either.
I just caught up from last week after the game last night. Holeeee shat.. I want to say Rowdy had something to do with the zombie camp invasion but he couldn't drive them in that van and he didn't have to time to lead them and get there ahead of Rick and crew. Either I'll have to accept a plot hole or two, which I'm fine with, or it was just a big coincidence.
Here's an AICN article from a guy that saw the last 2 episodes. No spoilers in it.

Well, there are what could be considered at least mild spoilers if you click and drag over the hidden text The preview was kind of disapointing though in that it seemed to be from only one scene - probably from close to the beginning of the episode.

I am really tempted to highlight that invisible text

Today is the last day to catch season 1 on On Demand.

On second though Methuselah's right. There is definitely one line in the invisible text that would spoil something for the last two episodes so I take that back.
