8. Stopping for the night. Glenn was right, Rick was wrong. But not one of those knuckleheads had the idea of moving gas from the one car that had some to the car that didn't and finding a better place to stop.
See, without knowing where they were or what was in the area, I think stopping was the right call. They just should've slept in the vehicles to allow for a quick getaway. But I am assuming they got away from the main horde of walkers, and had been driving for a while. So the place they chose was fairly fortified, and as long as you keep watch and are close to the cars, you're fine. If need be, you could definitely cram everyone into that one car an Darryl's bike.
The reason I assume they've gone a ways away from the farm is because if they were close, surely Herschel or his family would know the area and what is out there (especially a prison).

An AR-15 with two or three 30 round mags would have helped.
But the way they were filmed, it looked like the more they shot, the more walkers they just attracted. And for some reason, no one ever seems to be able to take up a real defensive position with enough firepower to suppress even a small zombie mob.
I'll concede better weapons is more desirable... but in the hands of the people on the show... I don't see them changing the outcome of any of the overrun scenarios. With the exception of the one where Shane pops Otis in the leg, I guess. But another couple of boxes of shells would have saved his arse too, I reckon.

always nice to hear baloo's thoughts. i think he and i are transferring our gravitation towards moral centers from dale to herschel. at least that's where i'm at.
they kinda did, but the fan was covered in shite at that point.
and at this point in the show (not comic) i don't think she's much of a loss in the sharpshooting dept. but she's definitely getting better.
her character actually kind of goes back in forth (supporting dale vs shane vs rick vs daryl) which would probably happen alot through all of this. except for her verbal beatdown of lori a few epi's back and we all loved that.

the katana seems like the best weapon for the ZA. machete leaves you too close to the zombies and guns need ammo. i would duel wield the katanas ftmfw

At first yes, but once they were on the highway and were told she went down surrounded by walkers, it would have been nuts to look for her.
By her reaction I'd say Lori was in love with Shane. It was bullshite. And didn't Carl end the show crying into her arms?
Swords and axes have their place for stealth and as a last defense, but killing them at a distance is key. You'd have to be pretty good with a sword to take on more than a
couple at arm's length.
Also way too many spoilers in this thread.

Now could be the time to go to Atlanta and get weapons...if we think the hoard has left the city in search of food.
That's the thing though, there is no "horde." There are just walkers everywhere. If this were ever even possible to ever happen IRL, there would be millions and billions of zombies everywhere. It's not like there's just a horde over here or over there. They'd be all over the place. This group of hundreds or thousands could've left Atlanta and there would still be millions there (5.2 million people live in the Atlanta metro area per Wiki).

While I enjoyed Andrea playing the part of Rambo Barbie last night, I couldn't help but wonder why she didn't just climb up a tree? They're called "walkers", not "climbers" for a reason.
I can see you are going to be zombie bait.
Up a tree to do what? Starve? Fall asleep and fall out of the tree? frick that noise.

Darryl's bike
The most ridiculous thing they could use. It's loud as shite and provides no protection. With Darryl seeming like he was made for this type of life you would think he would use something quieter and a bit more zombie-can-pull-you-off proof.

Looks like they tried to cover this by saying..."we can't all fit in the one car". Unless, of course, it's the big SUV--although Rick did say something about the red engine light being on? That little Volt or whatever the hell it is couldn't carry them I guess...in a zombie emergency, you SQUEEZE IN!
Nevermind that they're in old, loud, gas-guzzling vehicles as well.
You'd need to be in quiet cars that get great gas mileage. Darryl cruising around on the loud arse Harley makes me shake my head every time I see it.
Also, I wonder if the helicopter is connected to the prison.

Wait them out? They seem to have short attention spans, so as long as there's no blood and she remained still and quiet, they would eventually move on.
As pertains to last night's story, when you've been running all night and your ammo is out, starving in a tree is better than being eaten to death.

more agile, smaller, and better gas mileage

also i'm not asking for spoilers if the answer to this lies in the comic, but wouldn't even jawless, armless zombies still try to attack you?
if there's an explanation for this in the comic just say the comic addresses this.
it's just that someone brought up a point about "training zombies" which makes my head spin. because then i think about just keeping a couple around for menial stuff then my scope broadens and i start thinking about training a zombie army. and where there's zombie armies, there's zombie wars. and who wouln't want to watch a zombie war??

That or maybe a touring bus you've Mad Max'd out. Yeah the gas mileage would suck, but you would have a really secure rolling home. Keep it as long as you can then find something else. With all the vehicles that are just going to waste out there, they really didn't get too picky on what they drove.

Absolutely, but when the zombie apocalypse comes I want at least some protection from those biting bastards. Maybe it's just personal preference?

Most ridiculous suggestion ever.
She would have been better off to keep running rather than trying to shoot them out.

I think the thing that bothered me the most was how the boyfriend of the emo daughter died. Why did he stop the RV? Why not just let Rick and Carl jump on top and then keep driving? Why the frick did he stop, and then try to get out when it was surrounded?

Headshot accuracy 100%. i'm not a nitpicker, i take the ride but at one point i was like damn, no one misses ever or even just hits 'em in the chest by accident. nice.
I think Andrea shot two in the legs at some point, just to knock them down temporarily so she could run.
I'm still not sure how Rick and Carl got surrounded by the barn. The walkers were basically chasing them from behind, then all of a sudden they were literally surrounded 360 degrees by walkers. I thought they only came from the woods area.

I know the Walking Dead world is different from George Romero's world, but George Romero zombies have some ability to learn...especially in his later movies.

if you are in the middle of the ZA and are that stupid than death was coming sooner or later

Yeah. There's the "Resident Evil" route, and the "The Stand" route I guess. I can see advantages to having dump trucks, or Honda Civics. To armoring a vehicle that everyone can ride in, or to just grabbing a bunch of little cars and putting a couple of people in each one.
I'm thinking I'd just grab what was available and make a practice of jumping from one vehicle to another as needed/required. More like Zombieland, I suppose.
