Why not spray a little gasoline on them and throw a match at them and set the horde on fire?
Gasoline is most likely one of the greatest commodities here. Can't use that.

Why don't they actually man the fence regularly?
This is the answer. They have just gotten too comfortable and think they can be normal.

The way Rick wasted gas to burn wood, I have to figure they're comfortable with their supply.

I've always been of the mindset that they should kill every single walker they see.

Exactly. It's not like they're World War Z zombies.

Well, I liked the episode even though I swore I'd stop watching.
1. They have really disregarded protecting the fence if some little girl can make her way to the outer fence and drop some rats.
2. Everyone is lazy regarding killing the walkers.
3. Rick has lost his mind. I'm sorry, but his character is going the way of Lori. Carl is more mentally stable than his dad is.
4. I know Rick is the central character but it may be time to let him go. The guy is the male Homeland Carrie.
5. The virus should have affected more than 2 people so far. None would have a chance being they all had the same food source.

I was thinking that but it might weaken the fence with all that heat.

A flamethrower.
That would be the ticket to clear the fence.

Well they have to have vital characters to have a show but you're right. This new disease is widespread. If they have walkers at the fence who were humans who died of it and then turned, this thing is big. Survivors in other places are dying of it and making their way to the prison as walkers. Man, that's huge.

Why don't they put some of those wooden spike obstacles all the way around the perimeter of the fence like they do at the entrances? At least give another level of obstacles before they get to the outer fence.

Two questions for you guys:
Why don't we see children walkers? Maybe I'm wrong but I only remember seeing one kid walker and that was first or second episode of season 1.
If you die you turn into a walker. Last night the father was bitten so they had to kill him before he turned. Well, he hadn't turned and they killed him. Shouldn't he have turned into a walker soon after they killed him?
Thanks. Great thread!!

That seems like a costly endeavor because you most likely have to go outside of the prison to harvest the wood for the project. I do think from Farmer Rick to no weapons training for the kids to not managing the horde it's supposed to be obvious that they've gotten too comfortable. Michonne leaving to go out on her Governor hunts is made to be a big deal when they used to make supply runs regularly.

She stabbed him in the brain thus rendering the vessel inoperable to the virus.

That take a large work party exposed for a long time and who would need constant defending.
Seems too risky.

Nobody wants to see a bunch kids getting crowbars to the face.
Also, it's probably harder to get child extras.

There have been very few.
Maybe dealing with that many child extras is a pain because of school and schedules etc.
I don't get why no one has a dog. I would think a dog would be great to detect and warn of walkers.

Maybe they addressed this earlier in the series and I forgot, but why aren't there any dogs? They some how found a supply of domesticated pigs. It seems like dogs would be much easier to come by and much more useful with their ability to detect and attack.

Costly yes but it would definitely be beneficial. Just look at how effective it was with the guy from last season in that town that had the whole area booby-trapped. He had those things everywhere. The key is that you have to do regular maintenance just like you do with everything else by cleaning up the corpses, fixing broken spikes, etc.

I think we saw a dog get eaten in one of the earlier seasons. Maybe that was a horse...not sure.

Thanks and excellent points. Yeah that child in the first episode scared the crap out of me. Better off not seeing kid walkers
