Hmmm…I called he was the one that set them up the second he said he was CIA. Didn’t seem unrealistic to me.

What people are objecting to is that Ben is a former SEAL. It's hard to believe he would betray them like that. He and Reece continually refer to each other as brother. Of course the betrayal is possible, and he tried to give a rationale, it's just very ugly. It's just pure shock value.

Ben was sus from the beginning. There were no other logical choices besides the SecDef for the Unknown Beneficiary. If it wasn't Ben, I fully expected it to be some weird connection that I would've hated. I half expected to get a cliffhanger at the end to open it up to another chapter/season.

On to Ben's death, I agree that it was some shock value that Reece would actually go through with it. As I thought more about it, I'm glad that it ended that way. Reece's morals were reinforced there and he vowed to avenge his family with the list. No doubt that he didn't want to kill him but Ben had to die as he "had made it onto the list".

Final question. Do we get another season? I haven't read the books so I don't know the arc of the story and if there is even any room to continue it. Does Katie uncover another conspiracy and use deathbed James Reece as an instrument of destruction? Do we see Reece go full vigilante and live out the rest of his days thinking a palm tree is his daughter while he takes down a cartel? Do we get Ben as the angel on Reece's shoulder telling him to remember his training?

There is plenty of great material for 5 seasons so far

Definitely more material for more seasons from the books. You could do a season per book. The revenge list plot essentially ends in the first book. There are some ramifications that come from it but that story is essentially done. At least as far as the books go.

Was thinking the other day that I might have rather rather had Kitsch cast as Reece over Pratt. I didn’t dislike Pratt as Reece, but I think Kitsch in the role would’ve been sweet. I should say that’s an opinion without any knowledge of how the character is described in the books, maybe Pratt was a better fit, and truer to the character in the books.

Overall I had a fun time with the show. Thought the first couple episodes were a bit closer in tone to how I would’ve liked to had seen the whole series play out, and instead it went a bit too over the top, and silly at times, but I still enjoyed it. I did like that it was all forward momentum, and he was crossing names off his list damn near every episode.

The author actually said he had Chris Pratt in mind when he wrote the character. Hopefully this doesn't give too much away from the books but

Same. He’s definitely reached his sweet spot as an actor. He was excellent in the lead role in The Defeated as well.

Sidekick will probably need to be Queen Latifah for tv though

Really enjoyed it. Wasn't the best plot or acting. But I loved the action and the fact that he shot when he had to. No dilly-dallying.

Finished the first book, reading the 2nd.

Honestly one of the best shows i've seen in a while. It had me hooked from start to finish. Easily one of the best military shows out there. Kinda bummed for Kitsch character to be gone. He was so good. But you can tell Pratt put in tons of work to nail this character. He definitely brought the juice.

As a book reader, I’m very pleased so far. I just watched episode 3 and enjoyed the Carr cameo. My wife is enjoying it as much or more than I am even, because she doesn’t know what is coming. She keeps asking me if Ben is part of the conspiracy.

I really do hope they do other books because as good as Terminal List was, I thought a couple of the other books were better.

Sorta spoilers about another book, I guess, but this was publicized when the book came out:

One of the books is essentially an adaption of The Most Dangerous Game, and I would love to see it in this series format

They did a really good job of not giving away if there was truly someone calling the shots or if Reece was actually losing his mind. There was multiple times in the first couple episodes where i was like man he really might be losing it. But that all changed once he shot that hitman in the car and found the target package lol. Katie was shook.

there is a TV series of Most Dangerous Game that actually came out during covid. it had the less awesome Hemsworth brother and Cristoph Waltz if i remember.

i can't remember the service, but somebody came out with the idea of 10 minute episodes only available on your phone. meant for viewing in an uber, subway, waiting room.

the idea was kinda solid, but it debuted right as covid came out and people in ubers, subways, and waiting rooms disappeared over night.

Potential book spoilers

Overall I enjoyed it. I spent the first few episodes being pissed about changes from the book and then finally just accepted it for what it was, an adaptation.

Biggest complaints were the fact that his family wasn’t killed while he was at Boozer’s apartment before he every made it home. The fact that they were taken from him before he ever gets to see them again and that his wife was pregnant with another child really helps set up his rage in the books.
Another is the funeral scenes. The most heart wrenching part of the books is when the other Seals Honor Katie and Lucy by hammering their trident pins into their coffins. A honor generally reserved only for team members. That shite got me in my feels when I read it and I was disappointed to see the show take it out.
Last major complaint was the whole Hartley character. I feel like Amazon didn’t want to paint the US government in to much of a negative light so they really watered down her involvement in the whole set up and events that transpired. I’m the books Her and her husband are basically the Clintons.

Things I liked

I liked that they have Ben a better story line, yeah he still fricked Reece over but at least in the show he had some redemption for his actions. Book Ben basically fricked over his best friend for cash and was involved throughout the whole process.
Terminology and weapons handling was pretty good. There was still a few screw ups but for Hollywood it was a significant improvement.

I feel like they clarified that at the perfect time. I was afraid they would drag out that issue too long and it would end up affecting the storyline.
