I finished this yesterday. Liked it better than evil little thing, but less than making of a murderer. None are as good as Thin Blue Line (my all time fav) or the west Memphis three films.

My two primary thoughts:

1. He may or may not have been guilty but the only reason he was convicted was a totally corrupt system from top to bottom and everywhere in between. What a damn joke. Those people need to be put in jail for the same number of years Peterson was. The judge probably wasnt corrupt but he did some things that were very suspect, letting in the Germany thing.

2. The fact he was a journalist that wrote about some of the systematic corrupt and incompetence in Durham probably didnt help. All the more reason to jail a lot of those people.

And yeah, the dude is guilty as shite,

I started to watch the first episode and didn't finish it. I watched about 3/4s of the first episode and it didn't really catch my attention.. But I am glad I read this thread.

I sort of assumed that's how it would turn out, but thanks for saving me time.

Could have easily been condensed into 4-5 episodes. Evil Genius was much more intriguing, in my opinion.

Evil genius told you who it was from the first episode and there was no real twists in it and the only reason they ever figured it out was because the people involved were stupid and blabbed. There was nothing genius about what they did

I feel like John C McGinley could play a really good version of Peterson in a movie.

Again with how bad the prosecution was, how would you be confident in any of the evidence presented in trial being scientically accurate or unmanipulated?

The guy was so creepy that he had to be guilty. His daughters were pretty damned creepy, too.

There was an entire episode that the majority of it was them driving down I-10 going towards Hammond

If you're on an interesting "going toward Hammond" (versus BR or Slidell), the it's 12, not 10. But anyway, that whole trip (no spoilers) was a small fraction of the episode.

I thought it was great. How often do you get to see that much of the defense process? The corruption wasn't as blatant and obvious as Making A Murderer perhaps. Again no spoilers. The full latest Netflix stream version is absolutely worth a watch and I only got bored a few times with the bio aspect. I enjoyed psychoanalyzing the man's clear PTSD.

Watched the first two episodes, and fell asleep during both. Doubt I pick it back up.

I was living in NC when this happened and remember how obsessed people were over it. I remember believing at the time he killed her, but the motives they talked about the first 2 episodes didn't really make a lot of sense.

I'm kinda surprised at how many people couldn't get through the first episode or two

I found it interesting seeing the defense team prepare and all the behind the scenes stuff

The "Attacked by an owl" Theory:

It sounds extremely far fetched, but the gashes on the head, plus the fact that there were microscopic owl feathers in one of her hands, and the blood stains mentioned above. The fact that it was winter time consistent with Barn Owls in that area and their backyard was fairly wooded, that is the only way one would've attacked though, if Kathleen got too close to a nest, but she was intoxicated so could she have stumbled and shaken a tree and disrupted one? (I'm playing devils advocate of course)

Then add the wounds like on the back and elbows and face and the fact that getting attacked on the head by a Barn Owl, is equivalent to getting hit by a baseball bat, so it would've disoriented an already intoxicated woman........

To add on to this. Someone in their neighborhood was attacked by an owl and was seriously messed up from the encounter.

Apparently one of their neighbors who was a pseudo bird expert went to the police as soon as he saw the head wound photos. He was certain it was an owl attack.

It does help explain why she has large gashes on her head but no bruising or skull trauma.

The star of the show is David Rudolf. He did a fantastic job with this case. Were it not for the judge allowing prejudicial evidence in during the trial, I think Peterson walks. The judge later saying he shouldn't have allowed certain evidence in was telling and scary.

I don't know if he did it or not but one thing I feel is relevant is the fact that Michael Peterson reached out to the french documentary crew to film the entire process. If you're a guilty man trying to beat a murder charge, the last thing I think you would want to do is draw attention to yourself. It's not like the doc aired during the trail as some sort of PR stunt.

It was interesting, while also being rather boring at the same time.
