Sinister is up there.
So I love excorcism movies but never found them particularly scary because I’m Jewish.
If I’m Not gonna believe in enternal salvation through Christ I’m Not gonna be scared of your Christian demand.
Then I saw The Possession, which is ridiculous but about a Jewish demon.... definitely had me freaked out.

The Exorcist. Simply because I saw it as a kid and haven't seen it since. I plan on seeing The Witch eventually.

The Exorcist scared me to the point I felt sick to my stomach later that same day.
Jaws and Alien were scary, but fun scary.
The Blob (1950s) when I was 12 scared the bejeebers out of me.

House of 1000 Corpses because the story took stuff that really happened to people in real life and turned it into a story that most people thought was a cheesy horror flick without considering that this world really has people like this and we have no clue who they are.
That scares the shite out of me.

Glad it wasn’t just me. This movie bothered me. I struggle big time with kids getting killed. I started watching this one night and had to turn it off and finish during the day.

I remember being young and my parents let me watch anything.
All the blasphemy stuck with me. Scared me and scarred me. Lol
It's scary.
What movie gave me the most nightmares?
Childs play. My sister had one of them dolls that looked like Chuck and a Teddy Ruxpin.
I used to have the Chuck and Teddy killing me dream all the time.

Salem's Lot is the reason I will not sleep in a bed facing a window. Not gonna happen.
I'm glad to see Poltergeist get some mentions. A young colleague recently watched it with some friends, and she came out of her seat several times. Super creepy!
For me, though, nothing will beat The Exorcist. I've only seen it once, at a slumber party in middle school. I ended up in the hospital. The doctors CLAIM it was a ruptured ovarian cyst....but I was sure the movie had something to do with it.
I can't watch clips. I can't hear the music. When the 30th anniversary came and it was re-released into the theaters, I couldn't watch television in safety because the fricking trailer would come on when I least expected it. Hell, I even got a bit freaked out when Psych did the parody episode.
I converted to Catholicism in 2001. In a group session, we were discussing fears and I mentioned it. The priest sort of chuckled and said that I could bring the movie to group and that he would explain the inconsistencies and why there was nothing to fear. My response? "No offense, Father, but the priest in that movie didn't fare so well. I'll pass."
I can still hear his laughter. FRICK. That. Movie.
It sucks cocks in Hell.

When I was a kid about 8 my dad let me watch Alien. I think I slept with the light on for weeks after that.
You younger guys need to remember is us older guys did not have internet nor did you get multiple trailers. So a lot of times you were going in somewhat blind
I remember Blair Witch was so scary because people thought it was real. I think it was the 1st found footage type movie
I got sick from the motion and it ruined the movie and did not find it scary at all. Being sick to you stomach will really kill a movie
