re: The Sapranos - annoying/unlikeable characters

Did my first rewatch a couple months ago. Just as good as the first time I watched it. It was probably because I picked up on more things I didn't see the first time, like you said.

Meadow was a smoke show.
Janice was terrible
Anthony Jr. was fricking useless
Silvio was a good and loyal dude
Paulie was funny and cool but was a POS a lot of times too IMO
I see why Tony was so angry all the time in regards to his mother. That woman was a fricking prick.
Ralphie irritated was a scumbag too IMO
I liked Christopher the first time but the second time I watched he was an idiot. With the amount of drugs he did figured he wouldn't last forever. Being tight with Tony helped him immensely.
Idk what to think of Junior. Don't like him and don't hate him.
Furio was another good dude. Wish he stayed til the end.
Melfi was a bitch but her voice was funny.
Richie was a douchebag who thought himself WAY too highly.
Bobby was a good dude who dealt with a lot.
Obviously understand why Big Pussy was killed but solid guy too
Johnny Sack was probably my least favorite character in the series. Dude was the biggest prick of all time.
And Gloria Trillo

Completely forgot about Carmela for some reason. Like Junior, I didn't like her and didn't hate her. She was annoying like most women are though.

If the actress who played her hadn't died during season 2, I wonder how they would have continued the character of Livia. Would they have still killed her off, or would she have continued to be pain in Tony's arse.

We re-watched the pilot the other day and I had this same question. I have no doubt it would have changed things, perhaps significantly, at least in the first couple of seasons. I wonder if Janice was brought in to be a similar irritant/antagonist.
