Baseball movies typically nail the essence of the sport more than any other sports movies do.
Sandlot is completely on point with how it represents young boys during the summer (especially pre internet) and just playing endless (if totally meaningless) pickup sports.
Our neighborhood played street hockey every day after school summer or winter until it got too dark to play. Then the rare days where we lived, it would snow and the street lights and white snow would be bright enough that we could play at night AND pretend we had actual ice out there. It’s exactly like the Fourth of July scene and their night game.
