So the Southlanders sided with evil and have been punished ever since. So the elves made sure they wouldn't go to the evil side again. I'll be honest I don't care about this part at all

It seems the Tolkien fanbase is holding pretty strong on this. All the official videos from Amazon keep getting ratioed to hell, with thousands of comments being deleted.

Honestly, it still is. This is just bouncing off as bullshite from Tolkien’s writing. I don’t think it can be damaged in the way say Star Wars was.

Do you assholes know anything about the history of Middle Earth? The southlands are the fertile land of Nurn, located inside Mordor. Sauron enslaved these people to grow food and support his armies.

Then call it Núrn, not the Southlands which is a term that had never existed until today. The impression I got was they were referring to either Harad or Khand.

“So yeah, we (they/them)were thinking the Southlanders are basically the Confederates of Middle Earth and we wanted a fantasy take on the Civil War. The first Civil War actually took place in Middle Earth. Robert E. Lee actually quoted Tolkien at the Second Battle of Bull Run. If you noticed in Fellowship, they were tearing down Southlander statues in an effort to improve race relations at that time. Our story we have to tell is so much more important than the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I hope our viewers are smart enough to realize it.”
