Just got out of the movie… holy shite is the cinematography great. If this movie were 20 min shorter it would've been by far the best I've seen in a long long time. Leo's 3rd encounter with the Indians(in the woods where he rides away on the horse) and the subsequent sleeping in the horse carcas was 15 min of unnecessary plot that could've easily been cut. As many have said, I think it's Hardy's best work and he totally stole the show. They will give the Oscar to Stallone though, as it is also well deserved, but Hardy was better. Stallone will get it becauae of sentimental value and I think I'm ok with that.

Also, did anyone notice the original Rocky sounding part of the score. About 2/3 of the way through when Leo saw the Buffalo. That sad string arrangement… it was incredible.

1:59 mark of LINK vs LINK

Then we wouldn't have seen Leo's sweet steamy butt crack. That crack is gonna finally get him the Oscar.

Excellent film; superb performances by both DiCaprio and Hardy. Both are well-deserving of Oscars, although as others have said, I think Leo will be the only one to win, due to Stallone (although Hardy's performance was superior). Bravo.

There are periods when it drags very badly but not a bad film as with all movies some super unrealistic stuff happens

I thought the movie was ok (beautifully shot) and Hardy was alright. Leo went through hell and it was a great performance. But I didn't think Hardy was that great. He mumbled most of his lines and he didn't really have to stretch himself at all. I don't get how you think that he was better than Stallone in Creed. Stallone's performance was stunning. I was shocked at how good he was and it came out of no where. I don't think Stallone is going to win just because of nostalgia..

Like....that he would have died 10 times in that movie.

How did the Indian girl get away from the French trappers?

Great movie, Hardy stole the show and it could have easily been 15-20 minutes shorter.

Good question...So the ones the Indians were trading with are the ones that actually had the daughter all along?

Yea, they killed them after the chief's daughter escapes, the one Frenchman (who also spoke English) escaped and arrived at the American fort with the canteen alerting them to they though would be Hawk but found Glass instead.

Still, how did the Frenchtrappers let her just walk off after Glass stole the horse back?

About Hawk - That actor obviously has no white blood in him but is supposed to be Glass' son.

I thought they cut to a scene of her running away. I figured the french guys were more concerned with getting their (stolen) horse back at the moment, and by the time they realized she was gone they didn't know where to find her and she was long gone.

Watched yest.

Somewhat boring.
The setting made it better.
I just was dissapointed after seeing the previews.

Hardy was better than Leo, mainly bc spoke english and didn't whisper entire time.
How they stayed warm getting wet in the snow whole movie really puzzled me.

Cinematography was amazing. Story was boring, predictable, and was way too long. Overrated!

True.

I wouldn't say it was boring - minimalist survival movies can be interesting.

It was just a simple tale. The entire script might have been 9 pages.

Saw it yesterday. Liked it but didn't love it.

Loved the shots of the mountains and rivers. Must have been tough on cast and crew filming in those locations.

Made me cold just watching it. Drove home with heater on high

Spoilers -

Finally had a chance to see it today. As stated by many here, the cinematography and acting were top notch, plus the score was hauntingly effective. A brutal movie to watch, but as a father, I believe the depiction of Glass' love for his son was extraordinarily well done. Quite an improvement over Man in the Wilderness, but I was somewhat surprised that Glass exacted his vengeance (different than the original) since the "revenge is in God's hands, not mine" theme seemed to be prevalent. Although after Fitzgerald killed Captain Henry, I knew all bets were off.

Not a movie that lends itself to many viewings, but it definitely needs to be seen on the big screen.

Leo was overshadowed...again...in this movie. I think he needs to make sure he's casted next to a someone like Shatner next time so he comes across decent by comparison for once.

On second thought, maybe not. That might just emphasize his overacting.

The Revenant was great and was my choice for Best Picture... until I saw Room.

Leo and Hardy both deserve to win. I'm still holding out hope that he'll beat Stallone.

yep

Found the movie disappointing, in comparison to the hype.

Also, quite disturbing to the senses, but that´s just me.
