Is Anakins age
He is at a perfectly good age to start Jedi training however the council acts like he is to old and unpredictable
It would have been better if he were already an angst ridden teenager this would also help the whole love situation with amedala

Anakin was at his most insufferable as an angsty teen in AOTC. I hate the prequels so much,

I didn't mean him being a kid. The story's about who he is and where he came from. It's the execution that's a mess.

I have said this on here before. TPM was clearly written for Anakin to be about 16 years old. But Lucas decided to cast a 7-year-old without changing the script in the slightest. The end result is bizarre.

The legit version of TPM would be Anakin being an actual slave kid living a terrible life on Tatooine and being rescued but left twisted by that life which would play into the turn.

Instead we got the happiest slave kid ever that looked like a kid from an 80's sitcom.

All on Lucas.

Is that is has no protagonist and no reason to exist within the saga.

Not to mention Anakin lived in a two bedroom apartment complete with a kitchen and living room. I'm pretty sure that almost no slaves have such a compound. Anyone who watched that movie from the Third World was like "What the frick".

Tbh, I didn’t even realize Anakin was a slave. Thought he was just a poor kid.

The entire slave premise is ridiculous given the scope of the saga. So you mean to tell me that a guy who is scarred by his servitude as a child is going to join and basically lead an oppressive regime?

Exactly, seems like he’s living a lower-middle class life.

The execution of the premise is awful as many have pointed out already but I actually don’t think that the concept was off base.

Similar to how abused children often become abusers themselves, I could certainly see a former slave rising to power and becoming an oppressor himself. Not ridiculous at all imo

To be fair, this has happened in history. Sargon of Akkad and Genghis Khan are two that come to mind.

It also just made me wonder how the Jedi council was identifying, abducting, and caring for infants from across the galaxy? Did the force help them sense out high midichlorian counts in the womb, across the galaxy? Were there Jedi wet nurses?

Yeah, Anakin is cast way too young. "Little Annie" is the age of the younglings in Yoda's lightsaber class in Ep 2, and it's pretty clear that he would have caught up to them if they started a couple years earlier. Especially given his gifts and potential.

Also, in what universe does a rich and beautiful 16 yr old babe in charge of an entire planet fall in love with a 10 yr old? Girls that age look at OLDER men, not little kids. If Anakin was about the same age, with some hair on his balls and winning the pod race etc (ie a bad boy), THEN it makes some sense.

The real problem with SW E1 is Jake Lloyd and the words that come out of his mouth that were written by George Lucas

'I can't do it mom, I just can't do it' - don't worry Jake, we know you can't

but overall it should have started with Anakin a few years older and Darth Maul should have lived to be killed in Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. Dooku was such a step down despite Christopher Lee being a great actor.

Since I need to choose my words with more care concerning this, Darth Maul should have lived on in Star Wars film canon.
