I mean, the gloves were marked XL. They were OJ's size. The same size (and brand and model) that Nicole had purchased from Bloomingdale's. Prosecution called a VP of the manufacturer to testify and corroborate all of that.

That they didn't fit probably would not have been such a big deal if the prosecution had been more prepared for it. Why didn't they have someone who wore XL gloves try them on the way the defense apparently did?

The theory that the police planted those gloves is just nutso.

It wasn't as nutso at the time because of Fuhram. At least, the glove at OJ's wasn't. It is looking back. The prosecution was not prepared for a lot of things.

I can't recall whether there was any testimony presented regarding the shrinkage of the gloves or OJ's arthritic hands

I remember them talking about this during the trial when the gloves didnt fit.

I also thought the whole glove thing happened more towards the end of the trail, but it seems there is still a decent amount to cover if there are 3 more episodes.

More I watch this, the more I cringe every time CGJ is on the screen as OJ. I don't have any personal reference of OJ, so maybe he does sound and act like a petulant child and refer everything to a 4th grade level of football comparisons, but it comes off super cheesy

Also cringed hard at the bar room scene.

I actually think Cuba is doing a good job.

Also, the beat down of the conspiracy theory at the bar was really well done I thought.

I wonder if Shapiro really did try the glove on first and get that ball rolling.

Me too. First I've heard of Shapiro trying in the gloves and without gloves.

For many years, the story has been that Shapiro tried on the gloves, found them tight, and then compared hand sizes with OJ, finding OJ had much larger hands. For the TV series, it highlighted the miscasting of Travolta and Cuba.

Travolta is so hard to watch. He's awful IMHO. I love Cuba, but not in this.

From the Rolling Stone fact checking.

quote:

Did Robert Shapiro really try on the gloves in the courtroom when no one was looking? Most of the disastrous ACS scene of O.J. trying on the gloves in the courtroom comes straight out of the pages of Toobin's book — from defense lawyer F. Lee Bailey egging on Darden, whispering that he had "the balls of a stud field mouse" if he didn't have Simpson try them on, to O.J. awkwardly grimacing and muttering, "too tight," after his performance. But the scene of John Travolta's Shapiro slyly tugging a gloves onto his hand without anyone in the courtroom noticing is clearly fiction. According to Toobin, it was even worse. "The defense lawyers spent much of the [June 15 lunch break] examining — and goofing around with — the gloves. Just about every lawyer tried them on.” Cochran and Shapiro, together, realized that since the gloves didn’t fit them, they probably wouldn't fit the client, either. This was a fact the prosecutors knew as well; even Vannatter, who according to Toobin had "a big, meaty fist," saw that they wouldn't fit. Not that they wouldn't have fit at some point. "These gloves were several years old, had been through extensive DNA testing, and had several small samples of the leather cut out," Toobin writes. Clark and Darden had tried to get nearly identical, though new, gloves admitted into evidence for the defendant to try on, but Ito hadn't allowed it. And even though they offered the jury testimony explaining how the gloves might have shrunk over time, the damage was done. Cochran just had to figure out how to sum it up in an indelible little sound bite, and the case would be his.

If the prosecution also knew the gloves wouldn't fit, why in the world would they have had OJ try them on?

ive enjoyed this series, however anyone feel that they could have done this in 6-7 episodes? kind of feels like 10 is a lot and its dragged a little bit.

i dont mind Travolta or Cuba

just knowing it only takes 1 juror to find him not guilty, and most were black, it shouldnt shock anyone about the verdict.

You can call it a racist verdict, but even if you do, it's hard to discount the holes and the mistakes made by the prosecution and the police. The defense battered the prosecution. Ito assisted in many ways. OJ was a likable person until this case. An all white jury could have found reasonable doubt, right or wrong, the way the investigation and trial went. It allowed people to discount the evidence.

Are there interviews with any jurors other than with the one guy? I think he was Hispanic.

You know, as bad of a verdict as the jury made, it's almost easy to forgive them. They also were put through hell. Sure they were obviously worthless people if they could say goodbye to "work" for 2 months, but they were forced to extreme isolation for a year. Then when they finally control their own fates, what is the rational human response? It is to escape as soon as possible. The jury was smart enough to know that this case had been escalated to an unprecedented degree, and they may be killed if they went back after convicting OJ.

This was all on Ito. He escalated it as much as possible and put the jury's lives and sanity to an insane degree. I don't know where he got the balls to go on to serve on 500 more trials.

How did Ito allow that circus to go on for 6 fricking hours? I hope to god that was creative licensing. How can you question someone about DNA for 6 hours? Should have been 2 tops.

I said it on here before.

Watching the trial live, Scheck was the best lawyer on that team...who attacked the prosecution's evidence straightforward...and made sense.

He didn't resort to shock value or race-baiting.

Also, F. Lee Bailey was the worst lawyer for OJ. He was useless, even against someone like Mark Furman.
