Love this show.
The best thing about the show is the writers ability to go from a bazooka to a velvet hammer on a dime with a characters personality. The mom is a great example. You get glimpses that remind you of the darkness of Lyvia Soprano and then she is up and dancing with Victor. And this is after a flashback scene of her belittling Oz for being too weak to assist her suicide.
Oz goes from needle nose pliers on a guys….nose (love the irony) to having him guide the victim out of the parking space seconds later.
It sounds like a simple concept, but if they don't do it correctly it would lose the audience instead of pulling them in. They way they do it here is a masterclass in character development.

Good line. It showed a personal side but also a callback to his more humble beginnings as a driver. Felt like driver lingo.

Great scene. Very sweet.

Finally finished the episode last night.
This might be a stretch, but last night in the scene with Sophia and Eve in Eve's apartment, Eve had a chandelier/shade over her kitchen table that looked identical to Danny Devito's Penguins umbrella. As soon as it showed it that was the first thing I thought of. Can't find a picture of it fromt he show though.

me too!
I think Sophia's plan to take Oz's mom will backfire after the mom said Oz didn't have the stones to help her commit suicide.

Alright so probably was a little easter egg then.
Found a picture. Definitely an ode to Devito's (and I'm assuming the comic book) costume.

I'm definitely hooked on this show.
Are there any rumblings of a season 2?

The Penguin is a lead-in to The Batman 2.

Last I saw was an interview with Colin Farrell and he basically was saying this season and character is so good that he doesn't think he wants to do another one. Almost seems like actually playing the character was so involved that he didn't know if he could do it any longer.
I think it's safe to say we'll get more of him in The Batman 2. I would imagine if they decided to do a second season, it would depend on how his storyline goes in the next movie.

I think they should focus on other villains. I'm still hoping we get am Arkham show.

This is a quote from Reeves a few days ago. I think we are definitely getting more villain shows. I don’t know about Penguin though. I know Colin has said he is tired of the suit and makeup but money talks. The most difficult task is getting the money from the most evil and vile DC villain of all - David Zaslav.
I don’t remember if it’s been discussed before, but the best reveal in the article for me is the official name for Reeve’s Batman cinematic universe - The Batman Epic Crime Saga

The opportunity of being able to then on HBO, go and explore characters that wouldn’t be able to have that kind of real estate creatively, as we were able to do with Oz, that is something that we are talking to HBO about. They’re very excited about that idea. That’s something that we really, really hope we’re going to be able to do. We’ve got The Batman. We’ve got The Penguin. And who knows what’s next?

Batman’s character is perfect for TV. If you do a show on him you can introduce all the criminals you want using Batman’s secrecy to minimize him and highlight the villains.

Great point. Also, who even knows if Zaslav will still be in charge or will he have sold off WB by the time Batman 2 arrives. WB is such a rollercoaster.

Im blown away that DC was capable of this. This is the best villain arc on TV ever

I am enjoying the show, but does anyone feel like there’s been too many setbacks for Oz to prolong the series? I want to see him takeover lol.
Also, I am hoping to see the government angle of this show and how the Falcone family runs the political sphere of Gotham

With James Gunn running shite now you shouldn't be too surprised. He was able to take Marvel's D list characters and churn out a great trilogy along with 4 or 5 billion dollars.
This really is a great Gotham they've built with The Batman and The Penguin. Hell I'd watch the frick out of a Zoe Kravitz catwoman movie/series at this point.

On the fence over Oz pausing at that access to the water system. Not sure if that was just part of the homage to Batman Returns, or if it was foreshadowing to a plot point to come.
