Yes it was. I don't care if you liked the film or not, playing on your phone in the middle of a movie is absolutely rude. Do you think those little videos before the previews warning everyone to turn off their phones doesn't apply to you?

After thinking on it a for a few days, I still really like Rogue One and a major reason why is that it was a complete story with a start and finish. No bullshite storylines with unanswered questions trying to setup a sequel. (Even though it does setup ANH). I can waste my time analyzing the movie itself instead of contemplating how they will flesh things out. That's not very common in Star Wars movies and it's a good change of pace. We got to see just how vulnerable and ragtag the rebellion was which makes the OT all the better. I think A New Hope becomes a much better movie now. It was also nice to see more of the Empire and their control of the galaxy.
Again, I thought the CGI was perfectly done and I didn't feel like I was watching a cartoon which is what the prequels felt like. Tarkin and Leia were perfectly done and any criticism over that CGI is silly. It's not like they looked like a character from the Goldeneye N64 game.
The Force Awakens has become Skyfall to me. A good movie that has the feel and tone of the older franchise, but in the end it's overhyped and is a ripoff of another story. I like TFA and will take 2 more of them, but it certainly benefitted from having to jump the low bar that the prequels set.

Agree. I don't understand the criticism. I thought it was great considering how much screen time they gave Tarkin.

I'm with you to an extent. I think Abrams had to bring the franchise back to it's roots. It was a great launching point for this generation of films and established the characters perfectly moving forward IMO. I'm really excited about episode VIII and where they can go with the story.

We are on the same page. It's a useful movie and I do like it. It's just not as great as we all thought it was a year ago. In the end, it's purpose was to set things up going forward. It's tough to compare it to Casino Royale or Batman Begins, but those were two movies that were "new entries" that followed previous movies that were considered jokes, they established new storylines, paid homage to "source material," but were also compelling stories on their own. Again, it's tough to make that comparison because the SW franchise is so much different and TFA had to appeal to a much broader audience but that's kind of what I'm going at here.

My only gripe with the current Star Wars storylines is that Rogue One makes it the 3rd movie where the final act involves a small team disabling a shield while a massive space battle goes on overhead. The other two being ROTJ and TFA. I'm also tired of plots involving the Death Star/a planet destroying weapon such as starkiller base. The possibilities are endless for stories, they don't have to involve a weapon the size of a star. Maybe that's why Empire holds up as the best film, much more personal in the final act. Anyways, I loved Rogue One for the fact that the name Skywalker wasn't uttered once, among other reasons. Every film doesn't have to involve the same characters we've seen over and over which is why I'm excited for the future, hopefully Luke goes out in a blaze of glory in Ep. VIII.

Overall, this probably the biggest compliment you can give Rogue One. Somehow it made a film made forty years before and universally loved into a better, heavier.

I mentioned that I played on my phone because it is the truth on just how out of the story I was. And it did not harm anyones viewing experience. It was a near empty theater.
Now, would you like to have actual discussion without melting? I never got into the characters at all. I also never got into the story. Being so close in time line to ANH, the story seemed unimportant to me.
I am sorry you feel differently. I dont think it was a shite movie, but it didnt do anything for me personally. I respect peoples opinion who did enjoy it

Why didn't you just leave?
Do you enjoy the other Star Wars movies? At worst it's better than the prequels, other than the last 20 minutes of EpIII. At best I would put it right behind Empire.

Well, they aren't, but what about them makes them more enjoyable to you? Honest question. Were you younger when they came out?

Nobody's melting just telling you it was fricking rude. Doesn't matter what time of day it was, you were in a theater, you weren't alone, you were on your phone. You're a rude piece of shite, accept it.

I think he was more asking if you were a youngling.
