Honestly,save for a few moments, this movie was boring until they arrived at Scarif. The nods to the OT were great, Vader was great, but beyond that it never awes like TFA did (ie when the Falcon appears on screen, Rey force grabs Luke's saber, Kylo interrogating Rey)

He's probably thinking about the bothans in ROTJ.

Saw it last night, and it was outstanding, everything you go to a movie theater to see.

The good: a compelling story where every action by the characters seemed fraught with difficulty, weight, and galaxy-changing consequences. Really cool set pieces and outstanding landscapes. Great easter eggs, continuity, and references to the OT (Jyn's family having a thermos of blue milk on the table was my favorite). Absolutely chaotic and intense battle scenes, like Black Hawk Down in Star Wars, were simply among the best action sequences I've ever seen, especially the ambush in the Holy City, the final battle, and Vader's Terms of Rampagement.

Bad: Saw was completely misused and relatively useless for the plot. Felt like his role was cut for time. The male lead lacked so much on-screen charisma that I don't remember his name. At several points, the rebel fleet actually almost as much of an enemy for the protagonistsnas the Empire was. The rebels completely blew up their mission at the lab and nearly screwed up the archives theft by causing the Empire to close the shield gate (didn't anyone try the combination "1,2,3,4,5"?), the first 20 minutes felt a little disjointed even though it became more focused by the end (seemed like a lot was cut for time)

All in all, an incredibly solid film and a worthy addition to the Star Wars mythos. I was very worried that Disney would run Star Wars into the ground with these stand Lone films, but if they all approach this level of quality, I won't be complaining.

someone told me that that type of vessel was common in Star Wars and Leia may have been trying to say it wasn't the ship Vader wanted, but she didn't know vader was there.

I think a better ending would have been for a ship to separate and warp out, but Vader having damage the ship it breaks up. Someone gets on the escape pod, and Leia's ship picks them up on the way to Tatttooine.

Her message to Ben Kenobi was not the message she had gotten from the rebels. She carried two messages. ANH brings that up, but it seems like that was the whole point, only to get Kenobi, when that was only part of the mission.

The map bugs me. Many times it was mentioned that tatooine was too far away for the empire to really care about it. Yet the damn Library of Empire information was the next system over?


I don't like that.

It was amazing how perfect a prequel it was. It seamlessly transitioned into a movie that is nearly 40 years old.

That was amazing. I felt it was going to end where IV started, but they did it perfectly. Mad at myself for watching the spoiler though. Would have been better if I didn't know it was coming.

When all of those rebels were lineup up in the hallway and Darth Vader comes through the door, for a split second, I thought we were about to see the opening scene of ANH. I was about to nerdgasm so hard.

What was really cool is here is the text from the opening crawl from the original movie. Rogue One was basically the plot of the crawl.

Had she gone to Obi-wan would he know she was a Skywalker?

Plus she would say, "I am Bail Organa's daughter" and Obi would think, hmm Bail's daughter, about 19, and 19 years ago he took Anakin's daughter.
He would get it quickly.

I didn't think of that until after i typed it out last post.
