English dub finally hitting the Trunks arc next week
Its incredible how far behind the dub is. I love the dub but I still couldn't help myself and went ahead with the subbed version just to see the story line. I still watch the dubbed versions when they come out, but they have been coming out excruciatingly slow.
The Japanese sub is on episode 123 and the dubbed version is on episode 46. I know originally the US dubs for the entire Dragon Ball series were 10 years behind, but with so much instant media its difficult to wait so long now. I wonder how long it takes the dub guys to do an episode.

I've been doing the same. Brian Drummond's Clone Vegeta
In 123, Vegeta's new form, it looks a lot like Ascended SSJ to me. Hair is a little more spiky than usual and he looks bulky. Didn't notice any loss in his speed, so idk. Was hoping they'd talk about it a little more than they did.

Something that's sort of bothered me about Vegeta for awhile now, and i'm sure its been brought up in fan circles, but how exactly did Vegeta achieve super saiyan blue? Its supposed to be the super saiyan of the super saiyan God form, and we already know Goku got it from the special ceremony, so how did Vegeta achieve it? Didn't it happen off screen?
P.S. I think the story-line/TOP is building up to an ultra instinct Vegito, but they definitely tanked Vegito in the Future Trunks Saga compared to what he was back in the Buu Saga (Really loved Vegito in the Buu Saga), so its hard to tell for sure. But it seems like they've been dropping hints in the dialogue since the golden Frieza arrival on earth.

speaking of Golden Frieza....if he is obviously stronger than Dyspo in base form...why the frick not just get rid of him?
I understand toying with him and whatnot...or is he waiting for Jiren to frick up Goku and Vegeta?

SSB is different from SSG from my understanding. SSG is from the ritual and has red hair/aura. SSB is merely harnessing God ki, but that does not refer to SSG ki, but rather the same ki that Beerus and Whiss has as gods.
Vegeta achieved that first and explained to Goku how to go blue. So it wouldn't be surprising that Vegeta has been mastering it. If I had to guess, Vegeta has learned how to keep his ki internal instead of letting it seep out. It has been noted that previously Goku and Vegeta were not as effective in using god ki as they could be.
It is similar to SSJ1. It loses a lot of ki and SSJ2 helped control that, sense why they could stay in SSJ2 form for extended periods of time.
So very likely we saw Vegeta go SSB2.

Yeah wish they would do two episodes Saturday every now and then. The tourney arc won't be reached until next year

Dragon Ball Super is coming to an end. Once the Tournament of Power arc ends with episode 131 on March 25th, we won't see new Dragon Ball content until December. That's when the 2018 Dragon Ball movie will hit theaters.

Yeah, history of the sayains. Should be interesting.
Also, the hiatus might give Toriyama enough time to regroup, determine story lines going forward, animation corrections etc.

Toriyama never plans ahead, his style has always been going by the seat of his pants. He has stated as much in interviews.
But the break should hopefully recharge the batteries. The last thing we need is him getting burnt out again and stepping away, thus giving us another GT.

Yep. While there seems to be a drastic tone change from DBZ, I've grown to enjoy the unique style of super. I know they tried to get back to the dragon ball roots a little more, but it doesn't really give me a dragon ball vibe tbh.
Too much money left on the table for Dragon Ball to just stop putting stuff out. I think GT might have ruined anyone's enthusiasm for a DB series without Toriyama's input.

Toyotaro could pretty much take over and I think most DB fans would still consider it "true" to the characters and canon. I still just can't believe that they're just going to end it after the tournament. There's sooo much new material and characters that they can thrive upon for years to come.
DBZ was totally tapped out when it finished. There really wasn't anywhere else's they could go. Super has been very very refreshing and ve grown to really enjoy its quirks. Hopefully it's kind of just a prolonged break for a couple years then it comes back again.
Maybe it's going to take a UI/Ultra Blue Vegito to take him out then go to the final 3 or 4 episodes with the Jiren finale,
...
As for tonight's episode, I was pretty bummed that Gohan got taken out....and he didn't even go mystic form while doing it....kind of a big let down there. It's still just very weird that Hit completely kicked Dyspos arse yet it took miracles by Frieza AND Gogan to take him out.
Next week though looks incredible! But I don't know if I really understand what's going on. How is is Toppo essentially going to become a GoD. Was he hiding the power all along and how did he get it?? He had that same purple vibe as all the gods have when they power up. If he's on that level then hell, 17 nor Frieza stand a chance against him. It would essentially be like fighting Beerus.

Yeah there's a lot that can be fleshed out in later seasons. I would love to see Universe 6 be brought back and have Goku and Vegeta train Cabba, Cualifla, and Kale.

Tonight's episodes was pretty incredible with the Toppo GoD stuff.....but I just couldn't help but feel like Gohan should've been in place of 17 in this episode...I like 17 and get he infinite energy thing and all...but damn, Gohan should still be in this ...you could even maybe get a new Gohan power up or semthing out of it.
Aside from that...I still don't understand how and why Toppo has GoD powers...I mean is Vermouth retiring? What the hell is going on here....
I do think though that Vegeta is going to fight Toppo and he is going to win...he may even tap into a little destruction-like power too...didn't Whis say once that Vegeta was a GoD candidate ..if Toppo can do it, why not Vegeta

It was kind of fun seeing frieza get bitchslapped again. Jiren just pulling a Zoolander on the strongest final flash was a little disappointing to me tho.

As the tournament comes to an end, I'm curious where it all leads but there have been a few things that have frustrated me about the entirety of Super:
- I get that after the Cell saga Gohan was supposed to all but take over for Goku as the main protagonist of the show but didn't because of backlash in Japan and, in response, the writers basically had to find some way for him to be there but not overshadow Goku for the Buu saga. Fine, whatever. But Super was totally an opportunity for Gohan to reemerge as Goku's son: just as powerful but with the most intelligence of anyone on the show. Just a lot of wasted potential with that character.
- What the frick was the point of keeping Buu around? If Gohan has been a wasted character, I have no idea what to say about the way Majinn Buu, one of the most powerful villains ever faced in the series before turning good, has almost literally slept through the entire show. Cool, bring back Android 17 but I would have much rather watched Buu fight in this tournament than the Androids or Tien.

yeah, I think 90% of people would rather Buu in the tournament over Tien or Roshi.
and yeah, I would have much rather Gohan in place of 17 right now facing off against GoD Toppo.

Roshi had some nostalgic appeal but it felt like they were trying to pass off Tien like he was Piccolo. Piccolo at least was the strongest Z fighter at one point during the Android sage. Tien has never been that. It's like they made a conscious decision to include Tien as cannon fodder rather than use Buu because Universe 6 would be too strong at that point
Posted on 1/29/18 at 12:27 pm to tylerdurden24
I mean, universe 6, 7, and 11 seem like they are the only 3 universes worth a damn in the whole tournament. Look at the stats:
u7 - 52 fighters eliminated
U6 - 12 fighters eliminated
all other universes combined - 8 fighters eliminated
Would Buu have really put anymore focus on 7 than we already have?
