I think it had the best opening scene of any show in a long time. He was spot on and I love it. It got a little slow but then picked up. I liked it. Daniels is great.

So they wouldn' be shocked if a guy who has never shown any political allegiance finally broke and went on a ten minute tirade against a college student on the most controversial topic in this country?

Yea okay

Even as a conservative I agreed with everything he said in the meltdown. I was going to cancel HBO until GoT came back in, but this changed my mind.

Oh I do too.

And in the previews it shows that he himself is a conservative. " I am a registered rebuplican who believes that hurricanes are caused by low barometric pressure not gay marriages"

He actually says "high barometric pressure", which we all know is wrong. Maybe they've changed it in the last day or two.

i don't see how so many of yall enjoyed the opening rant. it was so phony - there is no way that at least 2/3rds of a left-slanting audience who went out of their way to attend a roundtable discussion wouldn't have been on their feet stomping and cheering. they'd really be cowering and feeling bad for the girl? no fricking way. they'd be like a Bill Maher audience as he rips into how dumb Arizona is. Really rang hollow to me.

That's a really weird thing to nitpick to me. And you're totally not accounting for the shock factor as the previous poster said versus a Maher audience that knows what they are in for and that's why they are there. How many times in the episode did they say he doesn't try to offend anyone basically.

Does it show that he's conservative or is that just a cheap gimmick for Sorkin to insult the right while patting himself on the back for being evenhanded?

The story calls him a registered republican.... If you have any personal agenda against the author of that story thats on you.

and its also a pretty reasonable jibe against rebublicans considering the shots that could be taken at us. Daniel's rant also offended the democratic representative in the story also.

He claims to be a registered Republican while at the same time insulting Republicans. And yes, its Sorkin's longterm MOO. Transparent and self-congratulatory.

It was okay but the show is a long con to insult Republicans. Just the portrayal of the old uncompromising, racist Repub @ss that's an anchor. Even his former EP was shown to be shortsighted, insecure and possessive.

By contrast, the liberal new EP and staff was gritty, strong willed liberal that saves the day and knows how to really scoop stories and keep corporations on the run.

Meh. It's definitely a left leaning show.

I insult republicans on a regular basis as well but come election day I still generally vote right. Does that mean I have some sort of agenda?

However regardless of your answer to that question does your political stance dictate your day to day life to such a degree that you can't enjoy a good show regardless of its stance? If so you deserve to picked on and insulted.

Great.

As long as you're not leaning so far to the right that you become an insecure fricktard.

IF you can go into the show with an open mind and realize that some people have differing political stances than yourself and still make a quality show then you will enjoy.

A civil difference of opinion on the context of political statements on TV drives you straight to personal attacks?
