A civil difference of opinion on the context of political statements on TV drives you straight to personal attacks?

No the fact that you cite politcal differences as a reason to not appreciate art is why you were labeled as

Then you should enjoy the hell out of the pilot. Now whether "The Newsroom" can sustain that pace remains to be seen.

But I never did that. I pointed out Sorkin's smug little gimmick of making the lead a nominal Republican in order to blast Republicans. I dislike childish plot devices.

However you have absolutely no idea what his plot devices are. You are taking one statement from a trailer completely out of context and basing your whole assumption of the show off of one hour long episode out of eight and your personal feelings regarding Sorkin's politcal stance.

The fact that you think Aaron Sorkin is attacking you because you have a different political belief makes you insecure. The fact that you can't overlook that difference makes you a fricktard.

Therefore you are labeled as an "insecure fricktard"

At least in the sense of this thread. I have no hard feelings concerning you elsewhere on this sight however in my oh so humble opinion you are conducting yourself as an insecure fricktard in this thread.

I saw this today. A video of AS's self-plagiarizing. LINK

FTR, Im pretty down the middle on his stuff. I really liked the Social Network and Few Good Men but didnt like Studio 60. I started to watch Sports Night ,but it reminded me too much of S60.

Im afraid its going to be the same thing with Newsroom. Im already seeing the same plot devices.

When people decide to conduct themselves as intelligent human beings and make themselves capable of overlooking differing political opinions for the sake of art I will gladly

My point had little to do with politics. I addressed Sorkin's heavyhanded attempts at manipulation. I really don't mind being manipulated in art and fiction so long as its done with skill and subtlety. None to be found in Episode One.

FWIW, I love Veep.

This describes my thoughts after the pilot exactly. I thought it was great but will be surprised if it can keep my attention.

The breaking of deepwater horizon really carried the episode and I don't see them being able to carry on that same momentum episode after episode. I will more than likely stick around for the whole season to give it a fair shot however.

Come on...she may be a democrat but that show is so benign its not even worth mentioning. I wouldnt have known what party she was if not for her clean jobs initiative.

I get what you are saying about Sorkin. Everything he does can be construed to be left leaning, but my biggest compliment is I thought he did a great job of keeping it down the middle. You didnt have to be either side to agree with what he said at the beginning, or that the news is generally terrible now.

I was thinking about giving it a whirl. Its like 7 seasons at 22 episodes. Thats taxing dude.

I like how they set it up to be the only ones to break DeepwaterHorizon.

Maybe they'll scoop Sandusky too while they're at it.

1st 4 seasons are the only ones worth watching.

Make the jump. You won't regret it. I've seen each of the 1st 4 seasons at least 3 times. Great rewatchability.

I did that with Rescue Me. I got through season 4 and I REALLY had to push it to do it. Then I saw it had like 60 episodes left.

I did the same. Rescue Me just got repetitive.

Sorkin only wrote the first 4 seasons of TWW so those are the only ones worth watching to be honest. The writing and story drop off and you can tell.

I didn't make it all the way through 5, but you'll want to start 5 bc 4 is a pretty big cliffhanger. I haven't seen 6 or 7 though I hear 7 isn't bad. I'm going to try and get into that at some point.
