Why Squidoo's list is bullshite:
So TV doesn't come into play at all on their list.

This is a list of the 10 most watched movies on the planet. The ranking of each movie in the list is determined by its recorded box office sales figures plus its total DVD sales figures.
So TV doesn't come into play at all on their list.

This made me wonder how many years now that they have been airing It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve?
I'm not comparing the two at all, but that part of your post peaked my curiosity in this regard.
It's A Wonderful Life went into a sort of public domain in 1974 (TV stations were supposed to pay the owner of the original story, who still had some rights to the movie, but I doubt anyone did). In the early 90's the movie studio was able to regain their rights and sold all viewing rights to NBC in 1994. So for about 20 years, TV stations around the US ran the shite out of the movie. That's why we all discovered it in the 70's.

I remember PBS used to show it every year on Christmas eve, I think at midnight.
Watched it that way every year after getting back from church.
Then one year, I guess 94 per your post, I was all ready to watch the show and BOOM......PBS shows Meet John Doe.
Christmas tradition shattered. Went out the next day and bought a vhs copy.

Wizard of Oz.
I still love that movie.
I do hate remakes and all that, but I think it would be cool to see a very well done, suspense thriller/horror type Wizard of Oz.
