Godzilla '98 > Every attempt to make a Godzilla or King Kong movie since
That is just false, the 98 Godzilla was so bad that TOHO bought the rights to it just to they can kill it. The 2014 and 2019 ones were far better then that abortion

I'm confused and intrigued by that gif.
Godzilla: Final Wars.
The actual Godzilla taking care of Zilla from the '98 abortion of a movie in Sydney.

How the hell did John Rayburn get caught up in this shite show?

Thread bump.
Just caught this on Amazon and I thought it was awesome.
A few groans on plot (neato sub had radiation suits and Atlantis type call outs) but... I mean, it's a movie about big arse monsters fighting big arse monsters.
And I always thought the core of Godzilla was we (humans) were the monsters worth fighting for... and I got that vibe.
Overall, fun movie.

I find this film somewhat special.
My nine year old son was pumped for it, when he was watching it I could could see he was recognizing that it was bad.
There is something truly fascinating in seeing the moment a child realizes something they thought they would love is shite. For a moment his innocent eyes was seeing the marketing bullshite around it.
He grew up a little bit in that moment.

No one likes this guy but I’ll play the part gladly on this topic
You actually thought fricking Godzilla was worth watching ? You couldn’t melt that shite and pour it on me.

I thought it was great in theater. It was on HBO last week and I enjoyed it on second viewing as well.

The 1954 movie is the exception when it comes to being a great movie top to bottom. The rest are all about the monster fights, which this new one did just fine at. I get the feeling some posters in here just aren't familiar with Godzilla movies.
I want a pure remake of the 1954 film. Dark, no humor, no corny lines or cheese, no other monsters. Just the Godzilla origin story. Basically a Batman begins version of Godzilla.

1998 with Broderick was way better.

Just watched it again last night. Great blockbuster. Some of y’all take you and your fairy farts too seriously.

Sounds like every single Japanese Godzilla movie to me.
The only Japanese science fiction movie I remember liking a lot was the "Mysterians", if anyone remembers that one.

Same here, it’s a great homage to the 90s Heisei series, even down to a Miki Saegusa character.

The story was god awful, but the monster action was good. Overall better than the 2014 film.

This. They are trying too hard to come up with a "story."
Here's your story: Monsters stomp stuff. Godzilla stomps monsters. Monsters get upper hand for a bit. Mothra comes and helps Godzilla. They go back to hibernate. The end. No need for any human driven plot. Just monsters stomping stuff.

Well, if you like giant monsters fighting and things esplode, Ziller ‘19 is for you. Rarely takes a breath, and that’s when most of the dopey storyline stuff happens.
But overall, giant monsters and shite. Not even mad.

Christopher Nolan's "Godzilla Begins"
He's not wearing hockey pads!

You talking about king of the monsters? It was pretty decent. Was a straight setup for Godzilla vs Kong so maybe the story suffered. But who cares? Godzilla went thermonuclear.

Loved the movie in the theaters and love it even more on my home theater.

Yes it was, it was also entertaining.
Broderick in his beret is far worse than anything in the last 2 true Godzilla movies.
Let them fights is an animated gif still used daily by many folks on this very site.
Not a single memorable thing about Jurassic Zilla. Well, other than the stupid beret.
Most people who hate the last 2 movies would also hate ALL of the previous Godzilla movies.
