Al Pacino

They don't even act AT ALL in their movies. They just yell and act obnoxious. Basically, they are the Will Ferrells of their generation who everyone mistakenly took seriously early in their careers.

Wacht "Scent of a Woman" and tell me Al Pacino doesn't act. That is one of his simplest movies, but is one that he does one of his best jobs. Anybody that says Al Pacino is an over-rated actor does not appreciate true acting

respectfully disagree - at least regarding his work in teh last 20 years

I think he (Pacino) was a great actor and has become a parody of himself

Cast Away is the ONLY performance worth noting by Hanks in the last 15 years. He's been average to mediocre for a long time and his peak wasn't that great. He was far better and more interesting to watch as an actor in his early comedy years than when he started doing all these serious dramas.

He was good in Toy Story 3 and Catch Me If You Can.

He's been more producing other stuff than acting recently.

- totally agree - great actor, with great range. I do think he was terrible in Catch Me If You Can. I can't say you didn't know he was acting. I did NOT like DiCaprio until that movie; he was money.

Well if you are going to say that then Morgan Freeman takes the cake.

At least say you like Tom Hanks because he does a very slim amount of characters very, very well. Don't just make stuff up.

I don't get the Conster hate he's been in some good ones:

Everyone always leaves out Mr. Brooks when listing great Costner performances.

The movie didn't really live up to it's potential(thanks Dane Cook), but it is easily one of Costner's best performances.

Sean Penn

I don't care for most of his movies but I appreciate his performances in spite of his political views. Probably is overrated but I wouldn't say the most overrated.

Since everyone here is focusing on males, I'll ask a question:

Do you think Meryl Streep deserves all of her acting award nominations and wins? (of which she has the most of any actress)

I haven't noticed him in movies lately, but I Am Sam was a fantastic movie.

Hell no. I always thought she was very overrated. Streep is certainly a good actress and Sophie's Choice is one of the greatest performances ever by an actress on screen but the level of praise for her acting has gotten ridiculous. She's been in a surprisingly low amount of great movies and none of those movies featured her as a lead. The Deer Hunter, Manhattan, and Adaptation were all supporting roles.

You consider Doubt to be an all-time great movie? Really? If you look at all the great actresses, they all had one seminal performance as a lead actress in an all-time great movie. Vivien Leigh had Gone With The Wind and Streetcar Named Desire, Ingrid Bergman had Casablanca and Notorious, Katharine Hepburn had Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, and The African Queen and Bette Davis had All About Eve. Where is Meryl Streep's great performance as a lead actress in an all-time great, legendary movie? There are none.
