I love Ahsoka so damn much! I hope they get her more and more meaning as this story unfolds!

Was always a bummer that we never did get to see Luke in his prime as a fully trained Jedi. He was pretty good in ROJ but never that overwhelming. And then 30 years later he does a pretty neat force ghost thing before concentrating to death.

We never saw him unleashed the way we saw other Jedi in the prequels or Rey in the sequels when she went god mode

Exactly. All Luke did was block zaps from a seeker droid with his blast shield down on his helmet.

With Luke you can argue that it’s in his blood as his father was an exceptional pilot.

Which is why I maintain the original outline of the trilogy was Rey was Han and Leia’s daughter that they hid from Ben when he turned. Because the conflict between brother and sister is much more compelling. You could even leave Palpatine as the big bad. The reborn cloned emperor was a big story in the EU. But Rian Johnson and Kennedy decided Star Wars needed to be woke.

Ahsoka Tano should have been the template for Rey in my humble opinion.

She started off over matched and out of her league. She learned hard lessons. She progressed. She got better. She had a natural character growth into being a powerful Jedi.

Yes, she had the benefit of being in a series instead of movies but you could have done an abbreviated version of that for the films. I think people would be raving about how great Rey was as a character if they had gone that route.

Or hell, make Luke leery of training her because she was more powerful and gifted in the Force then she should have been given her lack of training. Set it up that she is the Emperor's long term plan to create a powerful Force user he can possess. You could easily have done three movies with that.

They're not going to reboot that trilogy

TM is opening doors so that there is not a rebooted trilogy but a separate storyline that parallels current trilogy events. It would take a good story teller about 30 seconds to loosely reference the events of episode 7-9 and move to completely original content.

The fact that they kept Ahsoka alive through the original trilogy and don’t have her come around to re-instating the Jedi with Luke... And instead destroy Luke’s young attempt at a new Jedi Order. Its disappointing to say the least.

They could have built a decent foundation for a new cast with Luke+Ahsoka supporting characters guiding a new generation of Jedi. Flesh out the New Republic. Make things fresh.

An interesting angle would have been going a sort of Exploration route to start off, like the New Republic was funding some Star Trek-esque missions. These can naturally lead to the discovery of a new enemy in the Unknown Regions or from beyond the galaxy.
